KING EDWARD VIII
(1894-1972)
Edward was crowned King of Great Britain on January 20th 1936.
He showed great concern for the suffering of the unemployed and also
was an ardent supporter of peace in Europe. However a constitutional
crisis arose over his involvement with a U.S divorcee Mrs Wallis Simpson
and on December 11, he was forced to abdicate.
