D-DAY LANDINGS

On 6th June 1944, the combined allied armies landed in Normandy,France.
The Germans failed to recapture the beaches and were pinned down by Allied
control of the air. The alies remained bottled up in the peninsula for some
months, but finally a breakout was achieved and France was freed from german
occupation.Germany was now fighting what they feared most - a war on three
fronts (including Italy).
