DAVID LIVINGSTONE
(1813-1873)

Scottish missionary and explorer, born at Blantyre, Lanrkshire, he worked in
a cotton mill before studying medicine & theology. He took his medical
degree in 1840. He joined the London Missionary Society and was sent to
Africa. He is famous for his discovery of Lake Victoria and his famous
meeting with the journalist Stanley. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
