MICHAEL FARADAY (1791-1867) British chemist and natural philosopher. Born in London he became a laboratory assistant to Sir Humphrey Davy. As early as 1812 he began researches into electricity and in that year made his first electric battery. In 1821, he began researches into electro-magnetism and eventually produced his set of LAWS OF ELECTROLYSIS. He is remembered as an outstanding pioneer of electrical invention and theory.
