The best way to learn how to \nuse a complicated program is to have a \nknowledgable friend alongside, who you \ncan turn to for help. The Imagine Buddy \nSystem is just that, but in a \ncomputerised form. It's basically a \nhypertext system that contains info on \nImagine 2's various editors and menus.\n\nThis on-line system, not only can it \ndescribe menus and their functions, it\ncan also demonstrate a variety of \ntechniques.\n\nThe demos provide textual and audio \nexplanations of which actions are being\nperformed. To do this Imagine Buddy \nSystem makes use of a program called\n"Narrator". \n\nEvery editor within Imagine is covered \nin the Buddy System and with demons. \nThe information that is made available \nis presented in a easy-to-understand \nmanner, so even the most inexperienced \nof raytracing novices can find help in \na readily-digestible form. Based \naround Arkanoid, the enhanced breakout \nclone. MegaBall AGA is almost the same \ngame to when it first hit the PD streets, \nbut now with 256 colours, new levels, more \npower ups and more banging music. MegaBall \nis such an awesome game you cannot miss it \nand once you've got it, it's hard to put \ndown. It's so damn good it makes some dodgy \ncommercial games look like Atari ST rejects.\n\n G045 Road to Hell|zoom:games/GM045.DMS|\nOne or two player split screen overhead \nracing game. Many tracks including\ntraining mode where you can practice on \nany track or take on one of the three \nchampionship seasons. Besides the racing \nelement you can upgrade your vehicle with \nbetter grip tyres, power steering, faster \nengines, and a delightful choice of \nweaponry. The menu of tasty morsels are \nsmoke screens and missiles. One other \nneat option allows you to change the \nspeed of the game, quite essential as \nit's almost impossible to control the \ncars on the normal speed setting, the \nslow speed is most comfortable. It may be \nbecause I was running the game on my \nA1200, accelerating the game somewhat.\n \nThe tracks vary from fairly basic ovals \nto complex bendy ones with ostacles and \nhazzards such as ice and snow making \ncornering more difficult (but lots of \nfun). A good example on how to programme \na racing game properly.\n\n G058 Act of War 1.4|zoom:games/GM058.DMS|\nNew bug free and enhanced version of \nthis superb Laser Squad/Breach style \nstrategy war game. For those not \nfamiliar with either of those games, \nAct Of War puts you in charge of a team \nof crack soldiers, human and battle \ndroids, to complete five varied missions. \n \nYou begin by selecting the mission, \ndifficultly level and either a one or \ntwo player game. Next it's the armoury \nwhere you can spend your meagre money on \nany of 21 different weapons. Yes that's \nright a weapon for every occasion, fancy \na classy Dirty Harry style Magnum 44 or \na top of the range Napalm Cannon to singe \nthe hairs off your foe. More hardware \nthan you can cope with. \n \nAfter you've kited your troops out you go \nstraight into battle, your men are \ndeployed in small groups of 3 or 4 around \nthe target area - It's time to let rip. \nThe action is viewed from a birds eye \nperspective, so you get a good view of the \nsurroundings. You move your men \nindividually by the use of a points system, \neach man has a certain allocation of action \npoints which they use to move, shoot, open \ndoors, load weapons, pick up/drop items\netc.. Once you've spent them the character \ncan no longer move again until the next \nturn. On completing your movement round, the \nenemy have their turn to do much the same \nthings, then it's back to you. A continuous \ncycle. \n\n G060 Bazza and Runt AGA|zoom:games/GM060.DMS|\nThe main aim of this game is to destroy all \nthe targets on the screen and a certain \nnumber of monsters.\n\nMust be one of the most colourful, addictive \ngames on the Public Domain market. Obscenities were swapped as \nI sped off after my leisurely visit to \nthe service station. My rather ingenious \nplot won the race, the master strategist, \nthat's me.\n \nThis game is a bit special, as you may \nhave guessed from my short account of a \nmemorable incident during one of many \nraces a visiting friend and I had, this \nis a racing game. The best PD racing ever \nand that's no lie. This overhead racing \ngame has everything, incredibly detailed \ntracks, fast cars, missiles and mines, \nincredibly detailed tracks (oops I already \nsaid that), and tons of playability. The \ngame only has three tracks, which may \nsound very few but once you've experienced \nthe colossal size and graphic detail put \ninto each track, three tracks is more than\nenough.\n \nThe screen layout is split into three \nparts, two sections for both cars (either \n2 humans, 2 computers, or a mix of \ncomputer and human), the bottom displays a \nwell detailed scaled down version of the \ntrack which aids as a map plus shows the \nposition of both drivers.\n \nUntil Ford produce a production family \nsaloon armoured personal carrier for those \nfive o'clock rush hour blues, take your \nfrustrations out with High Octane. The game looks \nan awful lot like Alien Breed, but not \nquite as good.\n\nDespite being a slightly jerky shoot-em-up \nthis game does contain some very decent \ngraphics. \n\n G099 Santa Does Xmas|zoom:games/GM099.DMS|\nOk, so there may not be many objectives \nin this game but it is darn good fun for \nmany kids under 10 out there.\n\nAn ideal "stocking filler" which will \nkeep the kids happy, with this yuletide \ngame, for last few days before Xmas. \n\nThe idea of the game is very straight\nforward: Choose between Rudolf (the Red \nNose Reindeer!!) or good ol' Santa \nhimself, then your mission is to collect \nas many pressies as possible (in order to \nsave Xmas - the usual story - but kids \nlove it!) and to defend himself against \nthe baddies (well, snowmen etc actually) \nin the meantime.\n\n G100 Helicopter Mission|zoom:games/GM100.DMS|\nIt's a pity since all the text within\nthe game is all in German. \n This game is similar to Desert Strike\nthe arcade Helicopter game in which you\nhave to perform a number of missions in\na theatre of war. \n This game boast 3 type of chopper, and\nseveral different mission objectives \nwith full mission briefings and \ndebriefings.\n\n G101A Champion Wrestling|zoom:games/GM101A.DMS|\n1 or 2 player Wrestling game. It's great fun as each player is\nagainst one another and the action can\nget real hectic. \n\n G106 Deluxe Galaga V2.4|zoom:games/GM106.DMS|\nThis is the ultimate shareware \nshoot-em-up. The incredible addictive\nqualities, superb graphics and bonus\nstages make this up to commercial\nstandards in my books. \n\n The game is simple enough a vertically\nscrolling blaster based loosely on\nGalaxian, plenty to shoot, power up\nweapons and killer gameplay.\n\n G107 Automobiles V1.11|zoom:games/GM107.DMS|\nThe nearest thing to Skid Marks. \nAutomobiles is a car racing game for \nup to three participants and a selection\nof eight varied tracks. For example if \nyou have to share an Amiga in the family, \nand you all share the Hard disk, then \nsomeone (A sister, brother) may go into \nyour private directory and read private \nletters. Or if your brother or sister \ngoes through your personal disk \ncollection of floppy disks and they \nthink they see something labled `Private \nLetters` and they decide it would be very \nfunny if they read your private letters, \nor personal diary about your girlfriend \nthen this helpful utility is for YOU! It \ncan be installed onto any hard disk with \nenough space and any DOS floppy disk with \nenough disk space left on it. The program \ndoesn`t take up much disk space,so you \nshould be ok for that. If you don`t know \nwhat disk is in DOS format or not, then \nthere is one easy way to tell. Load up \nyour workbench disk and insert the disk \nyou would like to install, then if an \nicon appears with the name of the disk, \nand you can double click on it, so that \na window appears, then it is a DOS disk \nand you can install it, however if an \nerror appears or the icon is named NDOS: \nor a checksum 500 error appears, then \nthis is not in a DOS format so you can`t \ninstall the program on it.\n\n U355 Steroscopic v2.4A|zoom:utils/U355.DMS|\nStereoScopic is a simple package that \nallows you to create 3D Stereograms. \nWhat is a Stereogram? A Stereogram is \na two dimensional image that has been \nencoded with a three dimensional picture. \nAnother term for this type of image is \nSIRDS. SIRDS, however, uses only random \ndots for their background. The \nStereoScopic program allows you to use \nany type of background, including\nrandom dots.\n\nThe technique your mind uses to decode \nthe "hidden" Stereogram is called Wall-\nEyed. This is when you focus beyond the \nsurface to see the 3D image. There are \nother types of Stereogram viewing \ntechniques, including Cross-Eyed and \nFocus to Infinity. StereoScopic only \nuses the more common method of Wall-\nEyed viewing.\n\n U359 Teletext v1.2|zoom:utils/U359.DMS|\nThis project makes it possible to view \nTeletext (also know as Teletekst, \nVideotext, Ceefax, Skytext, Supertext \netc.) on your Amiga. It is suitable for \nany PAL Amiga because it uses the \nparallel port to interface with the \nhardware. An electronic switch is \nprovided to easily switch between the \nTeleText decoder and a printer.\n\nThe project consists of a small piece \nof hardware and some software. All \nelectronic diagrams are provided.\n\n U370 Assign Manager|zoom:utils/U370.DMS|\nAssignManager is a new prefs editor \nwhich handles your custom assigns in a \nfriendly, all-encompassing way. No \nmore fiddling with Assign commands in \nUser-Startups. Now you can use Assign\nManager to edit your list of assigns to \nyour heart's content, and you can \nchange them at the drop of a hat.\n\nAssignManager functions as a true prefs \neditor in every way, except you can't \nsave different presets (I didn't think \nthis was very necessary). The only other \ndifference is that you must add a line \nnear the start of your User-Startup.\n\nIf you can use Commodore's prefs \neditors, and if you are familiar with \nGadTools gadgets, you should have no \nproblems using AssignManager.\n\nAssignManager can be started from the \nWorkbench or a Shell.\n\n U376 Powercache v37.115|zoom:utils/U376.DMS|\nAn excellent utility that puts a cache \non your hard drive in order to speed up \naccess and retrieval of files by storing \ndata to ram. \n\nPowercache comes with versions for the \n020, 030 and 040 processors.\n\n[HD]\n\n U379 Desktop Magic v2|zoom:utils/U379.DMS|\nDesktopMAGIC saves your screen from \nphosphor burn-in by featuring 32 animated \nscreen saver modules, accompanied by \nsampled sound and 8-track music. (ASCII READER \nby P.J. Hickman. <<< >>> MAGNUM by Wai \nHung Liu.) Although both the above \nmentioned progs/utils are great in their \nown right, I felt that they both did not \noffer the user enough options to create a \ngood enough disk magazine/catalogue disk/\nletters disk etc.\n\n U404 Casio Comms v1.4|zoom:utils/U404.DMS|\nThis program is for communicating with \nthe Casio digital Diary SF-4300, SF-4600 \nand others.\n\nThis program and Hardware interface was \nmade without any knowledge of the\nprotocols needed to communicate with \nthe casio so I needed to do a lot of \ntrails to get everything working. It supports all AmigaDOS file \nsystems through AmigaOS 3.1. The \nincluded "Cheap" manual details the basic \nfunctions available, while the commercial \nmanual covers every little detail, theory \nofoperation, and other good stuff.\n\n U411 Superdark v2.1A|zoom:utils/U411.DMS|\nA modulerised screen blanker.\n\n U414 Disk Manager v4|zoom:utils/U414.DMS|\nDiskManager 4.0 is a disk cataloging \nprogram. That means you feed it with\nall the disks in your collection one \nby one. DM uses this information to build \nup a comprehensive database of all the \nfiles on all your disks. It also \nremembers how the disk was formatted and \nhow full it is.\n\nAt a later date, you can ask the program \nquestions about the disks, such as what \ndisk all archives are stored on. That is \nthe basic idea of what a disk cataloger is \nbut DiskManager 4.0 extends this idea \nbeyond all recognition.\n\n U415 Game Warper v1|zoom:utils/U415.DMS|\nGame Warper is a system that allows you \nto enter "Action Replay" codes directly \ninto your Amiga without the need for the \nAction Replay.\n\nIt also comes with a number of \npre-configured game cheats for a number \nof modern games.\n\n[020+]\n\n U416 Amiga Dos Guide v1|zoom:utils/U416.DMS|\nIdeal for intermediate or Amiga \nbeginners. The program's greatest strength \nis in its ability to maintain a \ncontinuous record of all transactions on \nany account using the Amiga's internal \nclock as a date reference. When AM first \nruns, all accounts are checked for direct \ndebit and/or credit transfer transactions \nand automatically updated as required.\n\nThe program also contains comprehensive \nreporting capabilities which include 3 \ndimensional code related bar graphs, \nbalance charts and a wide range of \nprinting options.\n\n U423 Program Loader|zoom:utils/U423.DMS|\nA mini hard drive menu system - \nconfigurable.\n\n U425 Vark's CLI Tools v6|zoom:utils/U425.DMS|\nContains loads and loads of useful CLI \nprograms and tools. It \nis used to visualize architectural, \nindustrial and artistic designs for \npresentation or analysis purposes.\n\nYou can use this program \n\n- live at your presentation\n- tape it to video\n- grab and print some pictures\n\nSince computer power is limited a \nrealtime 3D computer model is always a \ncompromise between graphics detail and \nanimation speed. Therefore pictures \ngenerated by this program can't be \ncompared to photo-realistic images made \nby 3D modelling software like Real3D. \n\nHowever a moving, interactive model can \ngive you a much better, complete and \nobjective impression than a static \npicture will ever give you !\n\n U434 Edword v5|zoom:utils/U434.DMS|\nOne of the best and most powerful Text \nEditors in the public domain. If you want a \ndecent text editor or even a cheap word \nprocessor then get this!\n\n U435A Movieguide v2.04|zoom:utils/U435A.DMS|\nMovieguide is a database of recent films. \nThe previous version of the program was a \nlittle "flacky", as a result its search \nfunctions did not always work as they \nshould. It also lacked any details of the \nfilm's storylines. Version 2.04 fixes all \nthose shortfalls.\n\nMovieguide is a two disk program that can \nbe installed to hard disk. It contains \ninformation about a surprising number of \nfilms. In essence it is a database \nprogram and is used in a similar manner. \nYou can search for a film by either \nentering its title, director or the name \nof one of its cast.\n\nIf you have used a search criteria that \nproduces a list of several films, you \ncan also choose a sorting method. You can \nview the films by name, genre or by year. \nTo reduce the searching time you can limit \nthe program to a genre and a country of \norigin.\n\nOnce a list of films that match your \ncriteria has been compiled, you can click \non each film to view its director, cast \nand on some, a brief description of the \nplot. If you click on the directors name \nor member of the cast the program will \nthen search for other films that the \ndirector has directed or a film that the \nmember of the cast has appeared in. You \ncan also print out entries.\n\n[1/2 Disks]\n\n U435B Movieguide v2.04|zoom:utils/U435B.DMS|\n[2/2 Disks]\n\n U438 256 Colour Icons|zoom:utils/U438.DMS|\nLoads of 256 icons for AGA machines.\n\n U440 Snoopdos v3|zoom:utils/U440.DMS|\nSnoopDos is a very serious utility. \nEssentially, it keeps track of all\nattempts by other programs to access DOS \nfunctions and files. The idea behind it \nis this: assuming you have just installed \nsome new piece of software on your system \nand it fails to run, you can check to see \nwhat files it is trying to access and \nhence hopefully be able to get it working.\n\nIf you have a hard drive and use a fair \namount of PD, SnoopDos quickly earns a \nplace in your heart. It is a truly usable \nand useful piece of software. After a while, I found I had \nso many cards that I just could not be \nbothered to go through them so they just \nsat there making an untidy pile. About 18 \nmonths ago whilst browsing through some \nAmiga mag or other, I saw a golf \nstatistics program on a PD listing, and \nwhen I received the PD catalouge disk, I \nfound another. Well of course I tried \nthem out and was quite happy with them \nboth. Unfortunately, the more I used \nthem, the more I wanted out of them, but \nyou cannot add features to a program just \nbecause you want them. It was at this \npoint that I thought that I would try to \nwrite one for myself. And after 1 years \nprogramming, (on and off), this is the \nresult. I hope you like it. It has a\nselection of new features, all of which \nare fully-functioning.\n\nUnlike the previous version, instead of \ndisabling the features of the shareware \nversion, the program simply opens a \nrequester mentioning that the program is \nshareware. At least this means you can \nevaluate all of the features and then \nconsider purchasing it.\n\nMain Actor is an animation utility that \ntakes a modular approach to editing\nanimations. It's an animation editor \nrather than a creator,so it has no tools \nfor drawing, but it can save and load a \nvariety of animation formats which makes \nit great for converting animations.\n\nSo what's new? The program now supports \nFLI, FLC, AVI and DL formatted \nanimations. As these formats are widely \naccepted by PC programs, and some MAC \nones, you can use the program to \ntransfer animations to other computer\nplatforms. As well as the increased \nfile support the program can now \nplayback sound files. The programs \nplayback speed from hard drive has also\nbeen improved.\n\nAll the old functions are still there \nsuch as being able to append \nnon-looping animations and AREXX \nsupport. A couple of AREXX scripts \nthat can be used in conjunction with \nADPro have been included. Unfortunately, \nall to often it is not completely clear \nwhat is meant by which system is "fast".\n \nComputer systems in general usually \nconsist of a number of devices \ninterconnected to form a whole. These \nindividual devices can be on one circuit \nboard, such as the case with certain \ncoprocessor devices, etc...or even as \nseperate entities completely, physically \nconnected in some external fashion, such \nas with expansion boards. All of these \ndevices will have certain advantages and \ndisadvantages with respect to performance\nlevels. Mainly because the \nprogrammer got only a minuscule amount \nof support from the operating system. \nBeginning with Kickstart 2.0, the \n`gadtools library' was a step in the \nright direction, however, even using this \nlibrary to generate complex and flexible \ninterfaces remained difficult and still \nrequired a great deal of patience.\n\nToday there are tools available that make \nthe use of `gadtools library' much more \nsimplified, but even these alternatives are \nnot often satisfying.\n\nThe largest problem in existing tools for \nthe creation of user interfaces is the \ninflexible output. Most of the programs are \nstill using built-in fonts and window sizes, \nthus making the use of high resolution \ngraphics hardware adaptors nearly unbearable. \nIts been said that Amiga users have had to \nlive with such similar shortcomings all\nalong. Even the preference programs on the \nWorkbench are still only using the default \nfont, topaz/8!\n\nMUI corrects all these disadvantages! The \ncentral scheme behind MUI assumes that only \nthe user (and not the programmer) of an \napplication knows how the program he is \nusing best fits his personal needs, and that\nof his computer system. Because MUI \napplications don't contain any absolute \nvalues for sizes or positions, the \nprogrammer instead only defines objects and \ngroups of objects. There are several \ncommercial offerings available, however \nthe casual user is paying a lot of money \nfor many facilities and options they \nwould probably never use.\n\nBitmap graphics, by their nature, usually \nrequire large amounts of RAM. One of the \nmain objectives of ImageStudio was to \nreduce this burden by utilising virtual\nmemory - most users have more spare hard\ndisk space than spare RAM.\n\nImageStudio works with several buffers at \nany one time (dependant on how many levels \nof undo are specified), each of these \nbuffers can hold either colour-mapped or \n24-bit images. For a detailed description \nof colour-mapped and 24-bit images, See \nImage types.\n\nImageStudio comes with a fully featured \nARexx port, which allows the writing of \nmacro scripts to automate repetative \nprocesses and also allows communication \nwith other ARexx aware programs. Again, \nARexx has the reputation of being \n"something pretty difficult", so we've\nsimplified the use of ARexx in \nImageStudio by allowing the user to \ncreate, edit and run scripts entirely \nwithin ImageStudio - ImageStudio even \nprovides a blank template as a starting \npoint for each new script.\n\n[1MB+][HD][1/2 Disks]\n\n U565B Image Studio v2|zoom:utils/U565B.DMS|\n[1MB+][HD][2/2 Disks]\n\n U566A Term v4.3|zoom:utils/U566A.DMS|\nThe best modem communications package.\n\n[HD][1/3 Disks]\n\n U566B Term v4.3|zoom:utils/U566B.DMS|\nThe best modem communications package.\n\n[HD][2/3 Disks]\n\n U566C Term v4.3|zoom:utils/U566C.DMS|\nThe best modem communications package.\n\n[HD][3/3 Disks]\n\n U567A Term v4.3 030|zoom:utils/U567A.DMS|\n030 version of the modem package.\n\n[HD][1/3 Disks]\n\n U567B Term v4.3 030|zoom:utils/U567B.DMS|\n030 version of the modem package.\n\n[HD][3/3 Disks]\n\n U567C Term v4.3 030|zoom:utils/U567C.DMS|\n030 version of the modem package.\n\n[HD][3/3 Disks]\n\n U568 Lottery Winner v2C|zoom:utils/U568.DMS|\nThis program is designed to help you \nwin the National Lottery.
