Microsoft Word version 6.0 for Windows Supplemental File
Conversion Disks include a Setup program that automatically
installs all or selected text converters, graphic filters,
and MS-DOS Glossary files. For downloading purposes, each
text converter, graphic filter, and all MS-DOS glossary
files have been placed in individual self-extracting
executable files that do not include Setup. To use the text
converter you downloaded:

1. Copy the self-extracting executable converter file to the
   Word program directory (usually C:\WINWORD).

2. Change to the Word program directory by typing

      CD C:\directory

(where directory is the path to your WINWORD program
   directory) and pressing Enter.

3. Decompress the text converter by typing the self-
extracting filename. For example, the Microsoft Works 3.0
for Windows converter self extracting filename is
   WKS3WN.EXE. Type

      WKS3WN

   and press Enter.

OPTIONAL: Once you have successfully run WKS3WN.EXE, you
can remove the file by typing

      DEL WKS3WN.EXE

   and pressing Enter.

4. Copy the files WKSOLE.DLL and WKSOLEUI.DLL to the System
subdirectory in your Windows directory by typing:

      COPY WKSOLE*.* C:\directory\SYSTEM

where directory is WINDOWS or the path to your Windows
   directory.

In most cases, Word automatically installs the appropriate
converter the first time you use Word to open a file created
in another application. Word installs the converter by
adding information to the [MSWord Text Converters] section
of your WINWORD6.INI file.

If you want to save a Word document in another format but do
not have a document in that format that you can open, do the
following to add information to the [MSWord Text Converters]
section of your WINWORD6.INI file.

1. From the File menu, choose Open (ALT, F, O).

2. Check the Confirm Conversions option.

3. In the File Name box, type:

      C:\directory\SETUP\SETUP.EXE

where directory is the name of your Word program
   directory (usually C:\WINWORD).

4. Choose OK. Word automatically searches for and installs
   all new text converters.

5. Choose the Cancel button in the Convert File dialog box.

For more information about using Word with documents created
in other word-processing programs, see the File Conversion
topic of the Word Readme Help (WDREADME.HLP) file installed
with Word 6.0 for Windows. More information about the
supplied converters and filters is included in SCNVINFO.DOC.
