VLIDE.SYS DOS Driver V2.40
For DC2300 / PDC20230C OEM Chipset controllers
9/13/94

re: VLIDE.SYS vs MB LBA support

This version of the VLIDE.SYS driver has been modified to be compatible
with Mainboard BIOS that support CHS(Cylinder Head Sector) and
LBA(Logical Block Adressing) translation. The MB Bios translation is
used to support Hard Disks which exceed 528 Million Bytes under DOS.

Note: For DC2300 controllers, you may rename VLIDE.SYS to DC2300.SYS to
conform with naming convention. VLIDE.SYS is the generic OEM driver name.

-----------
DESCRIPTION
-----------

Recent MB Bios have three types of tranlation modes: Normal(CHS with no
translation), Large(Translated CHS), and LBA. This driver will work with
all three Mainboard translation modes.

----------
CONDITIONS
----------

We require to use "LBA" Translation Mode whenever possible. If the user
setup the CMOS MB BIOS to use "LARGE" Translation mode when the Hard disk
is able to support "LBA" Translation mode.

Symptom: Hard disk will not access properly when loading VLIDE.SYS v2.40

Solution: Repartition the drive with translation mode set to "LBA"

	Steps:

	1) Backup the drive
	2) Go into the CMOS MB Bios and set the translation mode to LBA
	3) Boot to a bootable Floppy disk
	4) Run FDISK and repartition the HD
