WINDOWS 3.1 Installation
========================
The following files on this diskette are used to support the CalComp CCL 600
with Microsoft WINDOWS Version 3.1:

         OEMSETUP.INF CCL600.WPD PSCRIPT.DRV PSCRIPT.HLP

To install the driver files, perform the following steps:

 1) Double-click on the "Control Panel" icon in the Program Manager "Main"
    group window.

 2) Double-click on the "Printers" icon in the "Control Panel" menu.

 3) If no printers are currently installed, a list of available printers is
displayed. If you already have one or more printers installed, click on
the "Add >>" button to display the list of available printers. The entry
shown as "Install Unlisted or Updated Printer" is automatically highlighted.

 4) Click on the "Install" button to start the installation process.

 5) When prompted for the disk, insert the CalComp driver diskette into your
floppy drive (for example, your "A:" drive), and click on the "OK" button.

 6) The CalComp CCL 600 is displayed on the menu, and already highlighted.
Click on "OK" to begin the installation.

 7) The default connection is "LPT1:" for the output port. If you want to use
"LPT1:" for your output port, then proceed to the next step. Otherwise, to
select an alternate output port, click on the "Connect..." button. A new
dialog box is displayed which lists the available output ports for your
system. Click on the port you want, and then click on the "OK" button to
return to the previous dialog box.

 8) To set up the printer driver for your printer, click on the "Setup..."
button. The Printer Setup dialog box is shown with your printer name and
output port along the top. Use this dialog box to define the following
    operating parameters for your printer:

Paper Size - Pull-down the "Paper Size" menu and select a paper size. To
select a custom page size that is not shown, click on the "User Defined..."
item, specify the dimensions of the custom page size, measured either in
0.01 inch or 0.1 mm. (For example, a 11" x 17" page size would be entered
as 1100 for width and 1700 for height). The smaller dimension should be
specified as the width, and the larger dimension should be specified as the
height. When you have specified the page size, click on the "OK" button to
return to the Printer Setup dialog box. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not accept
this dialog box (by clicking on OK) if either value is zero, otherwise a
    Windows "Divide-By-Zero" error may occur.

Image Orientation - Click on either the "Portrait" or "Landscape" button.

Paper Source - Pull-down the "Paper Source" menu and select the paper tray
from among "Upper Tray", "Lower Tray" (if multiple trays are installed) or
"Middle Tray" (refers to the Multi-Purpose Tray). You can also select the
"Auto Select" option, to allow media of the same size to be drawn from all
available trays that have such media loaded. In this mode, the printer
will automatically switch to another tray when the current tray is empty,
although you must set the printer's control panel into "TRAY=ALL" mode to
use this feature. The "Envelope Feed" option is identical to the "Middle
Tray" option, and is used by some application programs.

Copies - Enter the number of copies through the edit box.

When you have finished defining the printer setup information, click on
the "OK" button to return to the previous dialog box.

 9) If you have other printer drivers installed and you want to establish the
CCL 600 as system default, click on the "Set As Default Printer" button.
If no other printer drivers are installed, the CalComp CCL 600 automatically
    becomes the default printer.

10) When you have finished installing the CCL 600 information, click on the
"Close" button to return to the Control Panel dialog box. This completes
    the installation procedure.

Cautions, Limitations and Restrictions
======================================
1. Be sure to set the Control Panel of the CCL 600 for the desired page
size before sending a print request to the the device. A clipped image or
wasted media could result if the page size is set incorrectly.

2. A known limitation exists within WINDOWS 3.1 that may result in a "Timeout"
message for the CCL 600, with options for either "Retry" or "Cancel". If so,
clicking on "Retry" one or more times would allow you to complete the print.
To eliminate the message completly, you should specify a larger timeout
value (such as "300" for 5 minutes) in the CONTROL PANEL/PRINTERS/CONNECT
dialog box. If that change does not resolve the problem, you should use
Notepad, SYSEDIT or any other text editor to modify the value in the
"WIN.INI" file for the "TransmissionRetryTimeout" entry to be a larger
   value, such as "300".

3. The following page sizes are available through the WINDOWS driver. A
non-printable border of up to 1/4" may be required for some page sizes.

      == Page Size ==   == Cut Sheet Size ==
        Letter - 8.5 x 11 inches
        Letter Small - 8.5 x 11 inches
	Legal - 8.5 x 14 inches
	Tabloid - 11 x 17 inches
	Executive - 7.25 x 10.5 inches
	A3 - 297 x 420 mm
	A4 - 210 x 297 mm
	A4 Small - 210 x 297 mm
	A5 - 148 x 210 mm
	B4 - 257 x 364 mm
	B5 - 182 x 257 mm
	Envelope #10 - 4-1/8 x 9-1/2 inches

Other page sizes that are supported by the printer (such as Monarch-Envelope,
DL-Envelope, A4-Small, A6 and B6) are not supported by the WINDOWS driver.
You must use the "User Defined..." selection to explicitly specify the width
and height dimensions for such unsupported page sizes. IMPORTANT NOTE: As
with the standard page sizes listed above, the full printable area of a User
Defined page size may not be accessible. Be sure to load media that is at
least as large as the specified User Defined page size, and then allow for a
non-printable border of up to 1/4" along the left and bottom edges of the
   page.

4. A different technique must be used for selecting paper sizes and paper trays
when using Microsoft Word for Windows, Version 2.0 (and later). Instead of
selecting those items through the Printer Setup dialog box, you must select
Page Setup from the application's menu bar to define those characteristics.
In addition, you must select Tools/Options/Print and click on the option to
enable the envelope feed capabilities of the application software.

5. To use the CCL 600 with Windows 3.0 or any other software package that does
not contain a printer driver for the CCL 600, you should select a driver for
any other available PostScript printer, such as the Apple LaserWriter.
