SYMPTOM

IRWASM.NLM fails to load under the following circumstances.

If Routing and Service filtering is enabled through the INETCFG utility
or by loading the SAPCFG utility from the console prompt and IPX WAN
operation is not configured (default in INETCFG), IRWASM.NLM does not
load and displays the following message:

     MESSAGE

          IRWASM.NLM has NOT loaded.
          IRWASM:
Unable to read IPX WAN configuration record. Ensure that IPX has
          been configured for WAN access.

If IPX WAN support has been enabled but no network numbers have been
configured, IRWASM.NLM does not load and displays the following message:

          IRWASM.NLM has NOT loaded.
          IRWASM:
The IRWASM requires at least one network number to be
configured for WAN links before it will load.

SOLUTION

This update fixes a problem with the filtering of IPX(tm) RIP packets and
IPX SAP packets with the NetWare MultiProtocol Router(tm) 2.11 software
and the NetWare MultiProtocol Router PLUS(tm) 2.11 software.

IRWASM has been updated to load properly when it is required for
filtering. If filtering is configured and IPX WAN operation is not
configured (default in INETCFG), the following message is displayed:

     MESSAGE

          IRWASM:
WAN operation for IPX is disabled.
IPX WAN support has not been enabled in INETCFG.

If IPX WAN support has been enabled but no network numbers have been
configured, the following message is displayed:

     MESSAGE

          IRWASM:
WAN operation for IPX is disabled.
IRWASM requires at least one network number to be configured in
INETCFG for WAN links to operate.

     2. Go to the router and load INETCFG from the console prompt.

     3. Select the LAN & WAN Boards option.

     4. Press <Ins> to add a new board.

     5. Press <Ins> to add a board not on the list.

     6. Type A:IRWASM or B:IRWASM, depending on the drive in which you
          inserted the diskette.

** NOTE ** This copies the new IRWASM.NLM to SYS:SYSTEM but DOES NOT
add an entry for a new board.

     7. Press <Esc> three times and select YES to exit.

This replaces the old IRWASM.NLM file with the new version from this
          PTF.

     1. Obtain the MPR-2 diskette from NetWare MultiProtocol Router 2.11
software or NetWare MultiProtocol Router PLUS 2.11 software.

     2. Go to the router and load INETCFG from the console prompt.

     3. Select the LAN & WAN Boards option.

     4. Press <Ins> to add a new board.

     5. Press <Ins> to add a board not on the list.

     6. Type A:IPX\IRWASM or B:IPX\IRWASM, depending on the drive in which
          you inserted the diskette.

** NOTE ** This copies the new IRWASM.NLM to SYS:SYSTEM but DOES NOT
add an entry for a new board.

     7. Press <Esc> three times, and select YES to exit.
