1. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

A video display board with a minimum of 512K RAM and 256-color capability
for display on a VGA or SVGA monitor is essential for reasonable viewing of
these images. Damsel recommends the use of High-color (16-bit) or True-color
(24-bit) display settings for optimal viewing of these images.

Note: this screen saver is shipped with the transition effect set at NONE.
Be advised that on systems using a 256-color setting all transition effects
other than NONE begin by displaying the prior image as an array looking like
colored sand. This is an effect caused by the change of optimized color
palettes from image to image. This odd effect will not occur when using the
true (24-bit) color settings available on high end graphics cards.

To access these choices press the Settings button of your Control Panel/
Display/Screen Saver dialog box.

You will need an IBM-compatible PC with a 486 or higher-type microprocessor,
8MB RAM, and a hard disk with 5MB free disk space.

This screen saver is designed for Windows 95 and individual Windows NT
workstations. This product WILL NOT run on earlier versions of Windows.

4. "CYBERGAL, THE ORIGINAL EPIC" and IMAGE LIST (Edited for Shareware)

The image list consists of Plate numbers 1 - 25. The Plate numbers are
embedded within the body of the great Cyberian saga below. Only four of
the 25 images are available in this Shareware version.

Cybergal, The Original Epic

Along a rarely traveled byroad in the long forgotten Virtual Sector of the
Milky Way galaxy lay Creos, home of the Cybernauts. The princess of this
world, Cybergal, loved to roam along the shores of the Oslan Sea. It was a
place for quiet reflection. (Plate 1 - registered version)

Cybergal went there often to contemplate her civilization's rich heritage of
discreet engagement with other evolving species, as protectors, educators,
and catalysts for positive change. But today was different. Princess
Cybergal was looking for a specific formation among the ancient volcanic
bedrock that occasionally jutted out into the sea from under the sandy layer
of undulating dunes.

In other regions of Creos the Cyberian Web Knights watched over the many
organic World Lifecode Template Generators. These generators formed life
opportunity templates based on input streaming in from the galaxy's many
solar and planetary nursery nebulae. The templates would be cyberlinked to
the developing planetary bodies such that the intelligence of the good
Spirit Mind would get a fair shake in the evolution of each planet.

The generators (Plate 2 - registered version) were a relatively new concept,
developed during the Great Confrontation which some argued was still online.
Years ago the True Life was very nearly exterminated by the forces of the
Doitmey Way, a ruthless sector of the galaxy which had been subdued eons ago
from within by the entropy of Sameness. The generators had become a last
ditch effort to provide planetary systems bordering the Doitmey Way with
lifestyles uniquely adapted to their own locale. These Lifecode Templates
were infused with a love of the infinite variety of life. With this
knowledge it was hoped that the bordering systems would not be lulled into
acceptance of the Doitmey's perpetuated unevolving lifecode.

The generators had worked quite well. Everyone seemed to want one, but
most seekers reasons were far from the high plain established by the Creons.
The problem was they could be programmed for freedom, but they could also be
programmed for slavery. It was for this reason that the Cyberian Web Knights
had come into existence, so that the templates would not fall into the wrong
hands.

Cybergal continued carefully along the Oslan shore. There it was! Beyond
that protective rock outcropping. Cybergal walked into the water and rose
up upon its loosely moleculed surface. There, around the outer edge of the
half-submerged bedrock, rose the narrow walls of a Connector. Entering its
flooded passageway, the walls slowly came alive, scanned Princess Cye, and
realizing her identity, opened their function to her. Cybergal thought about
the strange terse message left earlier that day by Cyberscott, her steadfast
Commander of the Web Knights. (Plate 3 - registered version)

Cybergal had a secret spot in her heart for Scott, and felt that he also was
loyal for more reasons than her royal title....

The Cyberpair could see the marker cairn in the distance. A collection of
interlocking rocks and polished minerals from various worlds had been
brought here to create some additional shade at Oasis2, one of only five on
the planet. Except for the one worn coastal range, there were no mountains
left on this ancient world. This coupled with the planet's almost zero
axial tilt resulted in both no seasons and effectively no weather in the
temperate zones. No weather, no rain. This moisture was coming underground
all the way from the poles. (Plate 8 - 1st image of Shareware version)

Under the marbled arch of the huge cairn, Cyberscott told Cybergal his
informant's story. (Plate 9 - registered version) "Our agents on the planets
bordering the Terronian region of Doitmey Way, have reported the emergence of
a new being known as Starm-D. It is female, and has earned the title 'The
Planet Cager'. She has developed a force which can control the presence or
absence of life on an entire planet. And, she has begun to use it, both
within the Doitmey Way and on the border planets we thought safe from
Sameness."

"Crojan Marge!" said Cye under her breath. "How did this come to be?"

"We believe she is actually of Cyberian origin, Princess. She has all of
our powers and apparently has developed a few new ones."

"But if a Cyberian, why take this turn to simple temporal power?"

"It is said that she is the historian, Cyberstyrra, who volunteered to go
undercover into the Doitmey Way back during the early years of the Great
Confrontation. We were unable to extract her. Fortunately in a way, we
lost contact before we developed the Lifecode Project, so the details of our
operations should still be hidden to her."

"Isn't she the one who caused us so much trouble in the Post Confrontation
years?" asked Cybergal.

"You remember well, Princess. Her chronicles continued for some time. Our
analysis of their content revealed a trend toward empathy with the Sameness.
It was indeed her writings which were used by some council members who
sought to oppose the Lifecode Project. Then the transmissions simply ended.
Since then no Cyberpilot has ever made it in or back on pure Spirit Mind
focus. We thought her dead, or defeated by Sameness.

With her apparent reappearance we can only postulate that her natural
Cyberian desires brought her into conflict with the Doitmey hierarchy. If
she was not subdued by Sameness we can only guess that she was somehow
able to subdue their masters and then bought into their lust for purely
physical experience."

"Scott, if what you say is true, this mad Cyberian is going to be
incredibly difficult to stop. Do we know anything else?"

"We have two recent MindEye records. I don't know how Lieutenant Jorl did
it, but one of the visions is through Starm-D's own eyes! He transmitted
that one first, then this one." (Plate 10 - registered version) With that
he raised three fingers to within an inch of Cybergal's right temple and
silently let the image flow.

Cye reached out to steady herself against the cairn wall. The vision was
overwhelming. Starm-D was staring at Cybergal as though she was there in
person. She had taken the form of a Buddara god, a very unfriendly Buddara
god. ...

As Cybergal assumed the floating focus position by Cyberscott's side she
thought momentarily about Ergoth. It was one of the Cybernaut's first
triumphs, a lush tropical planet that was bursting with life and awareness
even before the Creons had sent along their orbed insurance package. She
followed Scott's lead and was soon standing only partially materialized by
Scott's side on the planet's now lifeless surface. (Plate 12 - 2nd image
of Shareware version)

With their physical bodies still on Tharsis, Cyberscott described the scene.
"It took weeks for our operatives to find this location. The beaming
station you see above that hillock is heavily encrypted and invisible to
long range scanners."

"The object within the cage, is that a model of Ergoth?"

"Yes. At first we thought that this station was responsible for the main-
tenance of the field surrounding the planet, but it is much more than that.
Our repeated scans found that the station is also sending pure energy back
to a receiver somewhere deep in the heart of the Doitmey Way empire. The
station is not preventing the emergence of life so much as it is funneling
life's potential energy back to a hidden collector."

"So, with each new cage, Starm-D's power grows", stated Cybergal. "I have
seen enough, Commander. ...

As evening fell across Creos' capital, Faercyn, the lights began to wink on
in Cybergal Place, a broad opening in the crowded downtown surrounded by
skyscrapers housing the Cyberians' major administrative functions. In the
center stood the raised Council Gathering edifice (Plate 14 - 3rd image of
Shareware version) which was already throbbing with massed Cyberians.

That night the Council Chamber was packed to capacity. Rumors can make
those outside the inner circle very nervous, especially when those rumors
include stories of dying planets. Scott stood by his men and women as
Princess Cybergal ascended the dais and called the gathering to order.

"This is a special meeting," she intoned and rose from her simple yet flow-
ing throne. Walking to the front of the dais as if to personally talk to
each member she continued, laying out all of the facts as she knew them.
The Council grew very quiet as she spoke assuredly with that depth of
emotion that is sometimes misdiagnosed as coolness.

"I have spent the last two hours alone in the Infinite Chapel, deciding
what to recommend," she began after a brief pause. "I have studied the
history of this Starm-D, and read all of her transmissions from Budrath An
Doitmey Way. She has focused all her energies into the feminine dark path.
As such, throwing our excellent but mostly male Web Knights against her
power would probably result in a tremendous loss of life. I have a
different proposal. And, it involves resurrecting the Terraspheres."

A noticeable gasp swept the Chamber floor.

"You cannot do this!" bellowed Arbet Strang, lifted arms pulling his
massive body out of his council chair. "You would surely kill us all!"

Karia Torlac, one of Cybergal's strongest supporters, rose almost as swiftly.
"My most noble Princess, please. This is most assuredly a suicide mission."

Some of the councilors looked to Cyberscott who WAS noticeably stunned.
"The Terraspheres? Tahl Frac Ni! I don't believe it!" Scott knew
enough to play his surprise for all it was worth, but he needed to know
more if he was to support the Princess in this extremely hazardous plan.
"Princess, we need to know the details of this idea! How do you propose
to safeguard our world and our very lives from the unpredictable effects of
these outlawed creations?"

"Commander Scott! Arbet Strang! Councilors all! Please attend me. These
spheres CAN be handled!"

The commotion in the chamber continued unabated. Cyberscott ascended the
dais and striding past the Princess pulled the Orzone from its scabbard and
struck the Sounding Rod solidly. The low-pitched tone overwhelmed the
confusion on the floor. "Attend the Princess!" spoke Commander Scott.
His imposing frame and steely demeanor quelled most of the noise.

The Princess began immediately, leaving no moment for renewed interruption.
"Several years ago I authorized a small group of our best science rangers
and technicologists to send robots to Deep Iso. They were to work on
techniques that would permit personal control over the spheres. I am here
to announce that their work ...

Scott flew to Cybergal's side, but it was too late. The gal of gals was
almost totally solid rock now. With her last gaze he promised her he would
wait for her forever. She faded, then, frozen inside the last cage ever
made by Starm-D. (Plate 21 - 4th image of Shareware version) Scott
unearthed her form from the planet. He dared not try to resurrect her
with the Terrespheres due to their unpredictable mutating effects. He
wanted his Princess back with not a curve out of place, her noble spirit
intact. He knew his Cybergal was still alive in there. He just knew it.

The ages crept by. The epic stories were told and retold. The great
Princess Cybergal's fame spread far and wide. She was remembered
everywhere.

Cyberscott wandered the wilderness mountains of Gorcon, an old Cyberian
nursery used ages ago to incubate lifecode templates generated for planets
already inhabited by lifeforms. The Cyberian Council had long ago outlawed
the use of these templates on planets already under life's sway, and over
the years Gorcon had been forgotten. It's harsh mountain climate, lack of
valuable minerals, and remote location placed it last on the list of
everyone's favorite destinations.

Forever was a long, long time, but Scott had nothing left on Creos, and no
one else he would ever love. He returned to the encased shell of Cybergal
as he had done over and over throughout countless millennia.

As he sat resting against his favorite boulder, he gazed again at the image
of the statuesque Princess. It's color looked different today, ....
