Rollouts of VirusBUSTER using InstallShield
===========================================
Silent Installation for a network rollout

Leprechaun Software uses InstallShield 5 from InstallShield Corporation to create the Setup program used by VirusBUSTER. InstallShield Corporation is on the web at http://www.installshield.com/. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE INSTALLSHIELD TO USE THIS PROCEDURE.

To configure the Setup program for silent installation from a network distribution point, follow these steps:

1. Copy all files from the diskettes into one directory on the server (e.g. \\Apps\VBMast)
2. Run Setup -r.
3. Select the setup type, program folder, options, etc. that each user requires.
4. A file named Setup.iss will have been created in the Windows directory (normally C:\Windows or C:\WinNT).
This file needs to be copied to the VirusBUSTER network distribution point.
5. Silent installation can now be run using Setup -s.

To allow Setup to be run silently without requiring a command-line switch, follow these additional steps:

1. Edit the Setup.ini file located in the distribution point using Notepad or other plain text editor.

2. Under the [Startup] section, create the following key:

CmdLine=-s

This section will then look something like the following:

[Startup]
CmdLine=-s
AppName=VirusBUSTER
FreeDiskSpace=557

NOTE:
If using Word, WordPad or other word processor, the file MUST be saved in plain text format.

3. The user can now run Setup manually from the distribution point, or Setup can be invoked automatically using our NodeInstall utility. Available from http://www.leprechaun.com.au/winnodi.

Rollouts of MacroVirusBUSTER using InstallShield
================================================
Silent Installation for a network rollout

Leprechaun Software uses InstallShield 5 from InstallShield Corporation to create the Setup program used by MacroVirusBUSTER.

\\Apps\MVBMast)
2. Run Setup -r.
3. Select the setup type, program folder, options, etc. that each user requires.
4. A file named Setup.iss will have been created in the Windows directory (normally C:\Windows or C:\WinNT).
This file needs to be copied to the MacroVirusBUSTER network distribution point.
5. Silent installation can now be run using Setup -s.

To allow Setup to be run silently without requiring a command-line switch, follow these additional steps:

1. Edit the Setup.ini file located in the distribution point using Notepad or other plain text editor.

2. Under the [Startup] section, create the following key:

CmdLine=-s

This section will then look something like the following:

[Startup]
CmdLine=-s
AppName=MacroVirusBUSTER
FreeDiskSpace=557

NOTE:
If using Word, WordPad or other word processor, the file MUST be saved in plain text format.

3. The user can now run Setup manually from the distribution point, or Setup can be invoked automatically using our NodeInstall utility. Available from http://www.leprechaun.com.au/winnodi.

Rollouts of VirusBUSTER using Windows System Registry
=====================================================
Manual workstation installations across Windows 95 & NT networks

This option will provide users with the ability to run Setup from:
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs/Network Install.

The Network Install tab will only appear if setup by the Network Administrator.

To setup the Network Install page, add a string value in the Registry under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version
This key is the same for both Windows 95 and Windows NT.

The value name should be "AppInstallPath" and its data is a (UNC) path (and filename) of an .ini file (normally called Apps.ini) containing the program list. The format is as follows (see the Windows Resource Kit for more info):

[AppInstallList]
Program Display Name 1=\\Server1\Share2\Directory3\Setup.exe
Program Display Name 2=\\ServerX\ShareY\DirectoryZ\Setup.exe

You can also create a .reg file to add this value to the Registry when the .reg file is double clicked.
Copy the following (between the lines) and save as {whatever}.reg:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion]
"AppInstallPath"="\\\\dev1\\incoming\\apps.ini"

NOTE: all backslashes are doubled, ie. 4 before a server name and 2 for the share and directories.

Rollouts of VirusBUSTER including BootCLEAN
===========================================
With the new BootCLEAN, rollouts of VirusBUSTER for Windows 95 & Windows NT should be performed in accordance with the following instructions.

If you are using SMS or LanDesk, you should consult your product manuals for relevant instructions.

Windows 95 across existing networks
Use WinNodi or similar to run VirusBUSTER for Windows 95 Setup on each machine, the rest is automatic.

On multiple machines (OEM style):
* if the disk duplicator (ie. Ghost) duplicates all sectors then install VirusBUSTER for Windows 95 to master machine and replicate.
* if the disk duplicator duplicates the directory structure only, install VirusBUSTER for Windows 95 to master machine and add the following commands to AUTOEXEC.BAT:

* \vb_home_dir\BCLEAN.EXE
* CALL \vb_home_dir\CLEANUP.BAT

Then add the following batch file (CLEANUP.BAT) to vb_home_dir

* \vb_home_dir\BE.EXE C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT /D"BCLEAN.EXE"
* \vb_home_dir\BE.EXE C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT /D"CLEANUP.BAT"

Replicate the machine without rebooting. BootCLEAN will install when each PC is first booted.

Windows NT across existing networks
Use WinNodi or similar to run VirusBUSTER for Windows NT Setup on each machine, the rest is automatic.

On multiple machines (OEM style):
* if the disk duplicator (ie. Ghost) duplicates all sectors, then install VirusBUSTER for NT to master machine and replicate.
* if the disk duplicator duplicates the directory structure, install VirusBUSTER for NT only and then add the following entry to the RunOnce registry entry:

* BCINIT = \vb_home_dir\BCLEANNT.EXE
* replicate machine_without_rebooting	(otherwise the RunOnce key will disappear)
