 - LCWiz is a Windows95/NT(32Bit) application
that helps you develop your listening skill of foreign languages.

 - LCWiz records some voices or music sounds from your cassette or CD
into files and provides the convenient dictation practice to you.

 - For whoever has to learn how to listen and how to speak
   foreign languages efficiently.

 - Especially for students & teachers of foreign language classes.

3. Usage

 * At the first time of your using LCWiz

 - After running LCWiz, LCWiz'll open 'SAMPLE1.LWD' file for you.
 - At that time LCWiz'll skip the record session
and guide you to the dictation session directly.
 - Enjoy the dictation practice with the file!
You can decide whether LCWiz will be helpful for you or not.
Compare your dictation with the 'SAMPLE1.TXT' file.

 * Terminology

 - Wave Section :
An elementary sentence which is to be dictated in LCWiz's dictation
session. It has the sound information & the text script which you
entered. Wave sections are saved in the corresponding data file.
   (LWD file)

 - Record Session :
In the record session, for preparing your dictation practice
you can record sound from your cassette or CD.
You can also import other wav files.

 - Dictation Session :
In the dictation session, you practice your listening skill of
foreign languages with dictating the sounds which are given to you
by LCWiz. Also, you can edit the wave sections as you like.

 - LWD file :
L/C Wizard Data file. (LWD is an acronym of 'L/C Wizard Data.')
An *.LWD file is composed of the wave sections.
It can be opened and saved any time in LCWiz.

 - LWW file :
L/C Wizard Wave file. (LWW is an acronym of 'L/C Wizard Wave.')
An *.LWW file is composed of sound information.
It always has it's corresponding LWD file.

 - Automatic Wave Section Partitioning :
When you try to move from a record session to a dictation session,
LCWiz analyze the current wav file and partition it into wave
   sections
   automatically.

 - Fine Tuning of Wave Section :
After the automatic wave section partitioning,
in a dictation Session you can tune the start point
and the end point of the wave sections manually.

 * In the dictation session

 - With the various functions, you can listen
   and dictate each wave section.
 - In order to dictate wave sections easily,
you'd better use the hot keys instead of the mouse clicks.
 - LCWiz make you know the current status (play, stop,
current wave section, repetition count, interval period, etc)
   on the LCD display panel.
 - You have the following functions and the corresponding hot keys.
   . Play wave section F5
. Stop playing wave section F6
. Play the previous wave section F7 or Shift+Enter
. Play the next wave section F8 or Enter
   . Repetition count control Ctrl+ '[' (decreasing),
                                            Ctrl+ ']' (increasing)
. Interval period control Alt + '[' (decreasing),
                                            Alt + ']' (increasing)
   . Automatic progress option F11
. Check for the wave section difficult to dictate Gray '+'
. View checked wave sections only F10 menu
. Initialize wave sections' sentences F10 menu
   . Insert wave section Ctrl+Shift+Ins
   . Delete wave section Ctrl+Shift+Del
   . Merge wave section F3
   . Divide(Split) wave section F4
. Wave Section Fine Tuning controls Ctrl or Alt + ',' or '.'

 * Wave Section Edit Fuction

There are two parts in the wave section editing. One is the
general editing such as a inserting, a deleting, a merging and
a dividing. The other is the fine tuning which changes the start
& the end point of a wave section. If the function of LCWiz's
automatic wave section partitioning does not work well for you,
you can edit wave sections by the following editing methods.
Once the wave sections in a LWD file are well defined,
you don't have to edit wave sections any more.

 - Insert wave section Ctrl+Shift+Ins
LCWiz actually copies the current wave section and paste it
into the next position. After the wave section pasted,
you can make a different wave section by changing
the start & end points of it.

 - Delete wave section Ctrl+Shift+Del
LCWiz delete the current wave section permanently.

 - Merge wave sections F3
LCWiz merge the current wave section and the next one.
You can use this function when the current wave section is
   too short to dictate.

 - Divide wave section F4
LCWiz divide the current wave section into two wave sections.
During the current wave section being played,
you can call this function at the exact time point which you want.
With the function of the fine tuning, you can edit the start
& the end points of the two wave sections which are divided into.

 - Wave Section Fine Tuning controls (implemented with hot keys only)
. Moving backward the start point of the current wave section
      (Ctrl + ',')
. Moving forward the start point of the current wave section
      (Ctrl + '.')
. Moving backward the end point of the current wave section
      (Alt + ',')
. Moving forward the end point of the current wave section
      (Alt + '.')
. Playing the current wave section once for confirmation
     of the fine tuning (F9)

When you call these fine tuning functions, LCWiz sounds
the corresponding part of the wave section which is being edited
   for the accurate tuning work.

 * In the record session

 - You can record voices or music of foreign language
from you cassette or CD. You can import the prepared wave files
   into LCWiz also.
 - In the version 1.0, LCWiz can deal with only 'PCM, 8bit, MONO,
11kHz Sampling rate' formatted wav files. If you want to import
wave files of other formats, you should convert the format into
'PCM, 8bit, MONO, 11kHz Sampling rate' format with any
wave editors such as 'COOLEDIT' before importing it into LCWiz.
 - Push the 'Record' button on the screen when you are ready
to record sound from the sound source(cassette, CD).
 - When you want to stop the recording, push the 'Stop' button.
 - You can play the wave file which has been recorded
with the 'Play' button & 'Play Position Slider'.
 - The LCD panel on the screen shows you the recording &
   playing status.
 - If you finish the recording, you may go to the dictation session
with '->' button on the lower-right part of LCWiz.
At the moment that you push the button, LCWiz starts to analyze
the current wave file and partition it into wave sections.
 - The result of automatic partitioning depends on the recording
   status of the wave file.

 - Important notice! in case you are trying to record sounds
from your cassette to your sound card.

   (1) First, you should get a line connector which connects
       a cassette's phone jack and a sound card's line-in jack.
You can easily purchase it at the audio shops near you.
   (2) Insert the one end of the line into your cassette's phone jack
and the other into your sound card's line-in jack.
(If there is no line-in jack on your sound card,
       microphone jack might be O.K.)
   (3) At this point, you'd better know the 'Mixer' program of
Windows95/NT. Actually, it is 'SNDVOL32.exe' in the Windows
       directory.
   (4) You can call the mixer by pushing 'Speaker' icon button
       on LCWiz.
   (5) In the mixer, you can control the input & output volumes
and choose the input source & output device.
The input source is related to recording and the output device
       is related to playing.
   (6) When you call the mixer, it's title will be 'playback'.
This means you can control something related to
the output device. So, if you want to control input source,
select the 'Properties' in the 'Option' menu and
select the 'Record' option and 'OK' in the option dialog.
   (7) Now you can see the 'Recording' title.
Check only the Line-in source for the good recording.
If you check more than one input sources,
some noises might be introduced in the recording process.
   (8) In order to get good recording,
you'd better take trial and error approaches.
The volume levels you set are also important factors
       in the recording.
   (9) You may use other recording utilities you are already
familiar with. And you can easily import the wave files
which are recorded by other utilities.

4. About Registration
