Taglines! Taglines!
*******************
This is a first, quick and dirty doc for my newest masterpiece :-)
Taglines! Taglines! (called TT from here on) is a simple manager
for taglines which can either be inserted into your e-mail via
clipboard or by modifying the signature-file of your e-mail client.

Install
*******
First, copy all taglines.* - files in any -but the same- directory of
your choice. A link on the desktop would be a good idea, also :-)

Quickstart
**********
Start up TT and select a tagline using the back/forward-buttons:

 |< first entry of list
 << 10 lines back
  < previous line
  > next line
 >> jump 10 lines
 >| last entry of list

Set the "Signature-File"-switch to "Ignore" (explained later).
Hit "Tag it!" to copy the current tagline to the clipboard
and paste it into your current document. That's it!

Basic Tagline-Management
************************
OK, quite simple.
All editing and adding is done in the edit-field where the taglines are
displayed:

ADD CURRENT Appends the current content of the edit-field
                 to the list.
SAVE MODIFIED Any typos? Just correct them in the edit-field,
                 then click!
DELETE CURRENT You don't like a tagline? Kick it!

Btw., the default-taglines are stored in "TAGLINES.LST".
This is a simple ACII-file you can also edit with any editor like the
Windows-Notepad. But, please note:
 - Taglines can only have ONE line with a max. of 80 characters.
 - You must not use "blank" lines.
 - max. filesize 32kB!

ADVANCED Tagline-Management
***************************
Due to the limitation in filesize I've been asked to add support for
multiple ressource-files (new with v1.7!). Voila:

    LOAD Open existing Ressource-File
    SAVE Save current Ressource-File
SAVE AS Save current Ressource-File with new name
     NEW Create empty Ressource-File

AutoRun E-Mail-Client
*********************
With this feature you can launch your client at the same time with TT.
First, [SEARCH] for your client's executable.
Then, tell TT whether to
 - run client in standard-size (RunStd)
 - run client maximized (RunMax)
 - ignore client and just launch TT (Ignore)

If you selected any of the RUN-modes, your client will be launched next
time you start TT.

The RUN-button is usefull if you shut down your client by accident,
but still have TT in reach. No need to struggle through the StartMenu.

Signature-Files
***************
(I DO expect that you know what this is; so don't ask me.
In doubt, read your e-mail-client's documentation.)

First, you have to [SEARCH] your e-mail-client's SIG-file.
Note that the file must already exist; it will not be created by TT!
If your client does not have a build-in editor (or does not support
SIG-files itself) simply create one by using the Notepad.
There's also a demo-SIG-file with this package called TAGLINES.SIG.
Just edit it to fit your needs.
WARNING: Some clients do save their SIG-files in a binary (non-ASCII)-format.
These files MUST NEVER be altered except from within your client!
The only way to make use of TT with these is to create an ASCII-SIG-file
and use the Copy-mode (see below).
Sorry, no "tagline of the day" (see below) here...

Then, you have to tell TT what to do with it:

 - "T. o. D." = "Tagline of the day": (see below)

 - Write Only: physically modifies the SIG-file on your HD.
This is the mode to be used with "Tagline of the day"
               (see below). Clipboard stays untouched.

 - Write and Copy: like above, but also copies the modified SIG-file to
                    the clipboard

 - Copy Only: Reads your SIG-file and modifies it in the clipboard,
from where it can be pasted into your e-mail.
               Original SIG-file remains untouched!
NOTE: Usage of SIG-files must be switched off in your
client, or your e-mails will have 2 footers!
Useful if your client doesn't support signatures,
or just to have better control on TT's behavior.

- Ignore: SIG-file is left alone; only current tagline is copied
	          to the clipboard.

How does the modification work?
TT scans the SIG-file for this symbol: <*> (SMALLER_AS-STAR-BIGGER_AS)
When it finds <*>, it writes the tagline behind it and finishes the line
with another <*>. So the full tagline will read like that:

 <*> This is a joke! <*>

Obviously <*> must stand alone in a line, or most-left at least.
Try this by using the example-file TAGLINES.SIG

When TT does NOT find <*>, it first adds an empty line and then the tagline
to the end of the SIG-file. It will write the leading and trailing <*> also,
so once a tagline has been appended TT will find the <*> next time;
otherwise taglines would accumulate. Of course, this problem does not occur
if TT has no write-permission and modification is only done in the clipboard.

Hidden mode
***********
TT sits in the SystemTray.

When you click on it's TrayIcon, a popup-menu will appear:

- NextTag Like "Tag it!", but then auto-selects the next tagline
in the list! (...or the first one, when you reached it's end.)
So, by clicking here you will cycle through all your
taglines and get a new one each time.
OK, this is no real "random", but hey... :-)

- Steal "Steals" a tagline from incoming e-mails.
Mark the tagline and copy it to the clipboard, then click "Steal".
The tagline will be appended to your tag-list.
Note that -if you copied more than one line- only the FIRST one is
          relevant!

- Hide completely(!) hides TT's window

- Show brings back TT to front

- Exit Quick shutdown of TT

Tagline of the day
******************
This one needs a SIG-file to work on!
"TOD" creates a link to TAGLINES.EXE in the AUTOSTART-group of your StartMenu
("TT" tries to find out the correct name from the registrty).
When you boot your system, TT will create a new tagline as if you clicked on the
"NextTag"-entry of the TaskIcon-popup, but then it will quit immediately.
So each time startup your system a new tagline will be generated for your SIG-file.
Voila!

PS1: this "Auto"-feature is done by passing the parameter "/a" to TT.
PS2: If you had enabled "TOD" last time and disable it in the current session
TT will ask you to confirm this when closing it.

COPYRIGHT
*********
TT is free, but I do have all the copyrights.
I can't guarantee that there are no bugs;
if there are, tell me, but I don't take any responsibilities.

If you want to use TT regularly, you must send me an e-mail;
I just want to know where my proggy goes!
I'll send you the password to avoid the nag-screen immediately.
Of course, you should also tell me if you like it (or not).
And if there are any wishes I can fulfill... we'll see.

Btw., the taglines that come with TT have mostly been collected from the Net.
If there's something copyrighted by someone else please tell me to remove it.
