Informations about FLAMES.SCR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FLAMES.SCR is a screensaver that shows amazing
realtime-calculated fire-effects on your screen.
FLAMES.SCR requires :
	* Windows 95
	* DirectDraw 2.0 or better
	  (included in most Win95 - Games)
	* a fast Pentium (100MHz or better)
FLAMES.SCR consists of following files (as ZIP-archiv):
	* FLAMES.SCR (the screensaver)
	* FIRE.INI (the configurations-file for
	  FLAMES.SCR)
	!! both files have to be copied into the
	  Windows directory (mostly c:\windows)!!
	* HIST_ENG.TXT  (informations about older versions
	  and possibilities for Support, Questions, ...)
	* README.TXT (this file)
	* if this is the unregistered shareware- version,
	  there is a file called REG_ENG.TXT that
	  provides informations about registration
Using FLAMES.SCR
================
After copying the files flames.scr and fire.ini into
the windows directory, you can select flames as active
screensaver by using the screensaver tab in the
"Properties of Viewport" dialog (under Start|Settings|
Systemsettings or rightclick on the desktop backround|
Properties).
By clicking the button "Settings" you activate a dialog
where you can change the settings of flames.scr.
Options for FLAMES.SCR
======================
There are four tabs on the configuration dialog :
general, colors, color cycling and resolution.
The General settings specify the speed and the intensity
of the flames.
On the tab Colors you can create, rename, edit and
erase several color schemes that are used for calculating
the flames.
The color bar on the lower part shows the actually selected
color scheme. With this color bar an the scroll and edit
controls on the right you can select which part of the
color scheme is to be edited.
This selected part can be set to a color specified by the
RGB (RedGreenBlue) edits on the left, replaced by a "Smooth
Transition" between the highest and lowest selected color
index or you can "Interpolate" it by clicking on the button
with the same name.
The tab "Color cycling" is used to specify whether and
how the color schemes can be changed while running the
screensaver (looks really fantasssstic!!):
The "Resolution" actually can be changed in two stages,
a lower resolution improves the performance especially
on smaller computers incredibly.
drop them there.
The buttons "Test" and "Options" enables you to test
the selected saver and to change its settings.
The checkbox "show preview" enables a preview window,
but because of a bug that I couldn`t locate, this option
can cause protection faults and data losses, so that the
use of this option is at your own risk and not recommend.
