TROUBLESHOOTING
===============

1) I HAVE DIFFICULTIES CONNECTING TO A HOST VIA TELNET......

* DNS is not resolving the host name. Try using the numeric dot IP address
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) in place of the name address (subdomain.domain).

* Try connecting to another host. If successful, the first one may be
malfunctioning. Check with the host system administrator.

* Try pinging thehost. If ping doesn't work, there may be a problem with the host
or with the local TCP/IP configuration.

* Try connecting to a host using another terminal emulator. If trouble continues,
then a configuration or hardware problem is confirmed.

2) I CANNOT PING ANY HOSTS......

* Check your network is physically connected and is correctly terminated (if
  applicable).

* Check your network adapter is correctly seated in your system.

* Check that you are using the correct IP address or host name. You may have
allocated a different address during TCP/IP setup.

* Check your choice of interrupts and memory addresses in your TCP/IP setup
corresponds to the actual hardware settings for your network adapter.

* Check for conflicts between the hardware settings of your Network adapters
with other devices. Check when you boot your system to see whether you get
any hardware configuration errors messages about possible address or interrupt
  conflicts.

3) I HAVE DIFFICULTIES CONNECTING TO A HOST VIA MODEM......

* Is the telephone number correct?

* Is the tone/pulse property correct for the phone system?

* Is the modem dialing correctly? If not, check the modem properties to ensure they
  are correct.

4) I HAVE DIFFICULTIES CONNECTING TO A HOST VIA A DIRECT SERIAL CONNECTION......

* Ensure that the correct COM port and communications properties are set.

* If all properties seem to be correct, a problem may exist with the configuration
of the COM port or the serial hardware.

5) I CANNOT ALIGN COLUMNS IN THE DISPLAY......

* Try 'vt220_asii' as the font. This is the only font currently supported for accurate
alignment of characters. If 'vt220_ascii' is not desired, then use a fixed pitch font
  instead.

6) I CANNOT RUN SCRIPT......

* The exact string expected from the host must be used for the "Upon Receiving' field.
For example, the host may send:

  as opposed to:

(the second example has a space after the colon.)

The first character ('l' in this example) may be dropped to reduce the possibility of
  mismatching the case. For example:

  'login:' becomes 'ogin:'

7) I CANNOT MAKE 'ENTER' (OR 'RETURN') WORK CORRECTLY......

* Select properties from teh session menu. Click the keyboard tab and change the New Line
  property.

8) I CANNOT MAKE 'BACKSPACE' WORK CORRECTLY......

* Select properties from the session menu. Click the keyboard tab and change the Backspace
  Key property.
