I. What is Star Trek Information Database?

Star Trek Information Database (STIB) is a handy Star Trek episode information repository and tracking utility. The program uses the LCARS format (as seen in ST:VOY) to present information about episodes, and allows for seamless switching of series and updating of data.
The actual "program" portion of STIB is included in this package. However, the "EXE" file itself is useless without an "IBF," or Information Database File. This is the actual data segment which is passed to the application when you run the program. One is included with the setup program. However, these data files are often updated. Thus, you can visit the KHS web site and download the latest IBF definitions for the program, without having to download megabytes worth of setup program again!

II. Installing/uninstalling.

To install STIB, use a decompression utility (such as WinZip) to extract all the files in the archive stib*.zip. We've assumed you've already done this, as you can read this file. Next, run the file setup.exe and provide any needed information.
The IBF included with this version may get a little old, and after a few months or so, you may download a newer release from the web site (see Contact Information). Simply extract the stib.ibf file to the directory to which you installed the application, and you're done!
To uninstall the program, go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs, and select Star Trek Information Database. The program *should* uninstall entirely; however, you may have to delete the folder to which you installed the program; this is acceptable if you have run uninstall.
