Below you can find some of the common questions that we get about screens
and their answers. Please read through these before emailing us for help.
Enjoy!

1. What is a startup/shutdown screen and where do they go?
Starting with Windows 3.1 Microsoft has had pictures that show when the
computer is booting. This is called the Startup Screen and it is located in
the system root directory(usually C:\) and is named logo.sys. In Win95 they
added two more screens. One for while the computer is shuting down, the Wait
Screen, and the other for when it is safe to turn off the computer, the
Shutdown Screen. These are located in the windows directory(usually
c:\windows\)and are named logow.sys and logos.sys respectively. Use the list
below to help you.

Screen you want to replace:	Rename the BMP file to this:	Put it in this Directory:
Startup Screen logo.sys c:\
Wait Screen logow.sys c:\windows
Shutdown Screen logos.sys c:\windows

2. I can't see the screen in my viewer. What format is it?
The screens are in a format called BMP and in 256 colors. They are 320
wide x 400 high pixels in size. Usually they will appear distorted in the
viewers that you can see them in because of the odd size.

3. I downloaded your file but don't know what to do with it.
The screens on here are in a zip file. You will need to unzip them first.
If you need a utility to unzip them try one of the shareware sites on the net.
After they are unzipped you will need to rename the file to the correct name(see
below) and place it in the correct directory. Then the next time you shutdown
and startup you will see them.

Screen you want to replace:	Rename the BMP file to this:	Put it in this Directory:
Startup Screen logo.sys c:\
Wait Screen logow.sys c:\windows
Shutdown Screen logos.sys c:\windows

4. I can't see the logo files on my system?
The logo files are set to "hidden" by default in windows. To see them you have
to tell Windows Explorer to show them. To do this open Windows Explorer and select
the View menu and then Options. Now click on Show All Files and then OK. Now when
you view the C:\ directory you should see a logo.sys file and in the C:\windows
directory you should see a logos.sys and a logow.sys.

5. There are no logo files on my system at all?
First make sure that you have show hidden turned on(see number 4 above). If you do
then most likely you have a system that has some kind of Windows overlay(something
to make it easier to use) like a Packard Bell. You can usually make the logo files
show up by simply placing them in the correct spot and then completely shutting
down your computer and restarting it. If you still do not see them I would suggest
going to the manufacturers website and requesting help from them. Usually their
url is www.manufacturersname.com like www.packardbell.com.
