1. Abstract
-----------
This program is both a DIRECTORY COMPARE UTILITY and a FILE COMPARE
UTILITY. Use it to locate and reconcile differences in directories
and files.

2. System Requirements
----------------------
Beyond Compare for Windows95/NT requires Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51,
or Windows NT 4.0. A 16-bit version is also available for Windows 3.x
(see our web site).

3. Installation
---------------
To install Beyond Compare, run SETUP and follow the instructions.
The following files will be placed in a directory of your
choosing:

BEYOND32.EXE	The Beyond Compare program file
  BEYOND32.HLP	The help file
  BEYOND32.CNT	Help contents file
  README.TXT	This file
  VERSION.TXT	History of changes
  UNINSTAL.EXE	The uninstall utility

When you run Beyond Compare for the first time, the file BEYOND32.INI
will be created in your Windows directory (typically C:\Windows).

4. Upgrading From an Earlier Version
------------------------------------
You can install this version over an earlier version if you wish.
The program settings (stored in the file BEYOND32.INI in your Windows
directory) have traditionally been forwards and backwards compatible.
However, version 1.7 has moved several existing options into the new
"Rules" definition, and these will revert to their default settings.
So please review your "Rules" settings after upgrading from 1.6 or
earlier.

5. Uninstalling
---------------
To uninstall Beyond Compare, choose Add/Remove Programs from the
Control Panel. Highlight "Beyond Compare" and click the
Add/Remove button.

6. Registration
---------------
Beyond Compare is shareware, with a price of $30. You can register
through CompuServe's SWREG (ID# 13019), by credit card through
the Registration Network (www.swregnet.com), or you can register
through the mail. Complete details are in the help file and on our
web site.
