I am DAMN sick and tired of looking through books, charts and decoder wheels!

MECHWARRIOR is no exception.   The Air Force doesn't have that much security
at an Air Base!  Well gang, this one is as easy to crack as an egg!  Here is
exactly how to do it...

First, make a backup copy of one file called MW_MAIN.EXE  This is in case you
screw up the crack and need to start over.  Next fire up your good old Norton
Utilities program.  There are 24 names that have to be HEX edited.  It's very
simple to do, so don't panic!    All of the names are in the file MW_MAIN.EXE

             Here are the names you will be looking for:

  1 - Grim Jim             9 - Duck Soup              17 - Glory Boy
  2 - Renegade            10 - Red Lance              18 - Dragon Tail
  3 - Snow Fire           11 - Screaming Eagle        19 - Grave Walker
  4 - Black Jack          12 - Yellow Bird            20 - Red Arrow  
  5 - Black Witch         13 - Slasher                21 - Silver Hawk
  6 - Bad Dream           14 - Small Room             22 - Night Stalker
  7 - Sakhara             15 - Mad Dog                23 - Future Guard
  8 - Red Dawn            16 - Tin Man                24 - Black Baron

              Write these names down or print them...

The only thing that you have to do is use the Search function in Norton to
save you the time of finding the names in this 176K file.  When you locate
one name, there are usually two or three more right beside it.  When you get
to each name, bring Norton's cursor to the left side (HEX side) of the screen
with the TAB key, then simply type 00 over each letter of every name.  Keep
in mind that if a name has 2 words, you must also put the 00 where the space
is.   Keep a list of the names and check them off as you 00 each one of them.
This way you won't miss any of them.   Make sure you use the  "Write"  option
that is built into Norton when you are done with each change BEFORE you go
searching for the next name....

I completed this little task in less than 10 minutes, so it isn't difficult.
Once you have changed the 24 names to 00,  then run MW.EXE  When the prompt
for the code comes up, just press <ENTER> and you the game will start.

* NOTE for degenerates:  You may also enter any vulgar word for a code and
it will still run.

Remember, the worst that can happen if you totally botch it up is that you
will have to copy the original MW_MAIN.EXE back into the subdirectory, but
any moron should be able to utilize this crack.
