Sacrifice-O-Head ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First note, unzip with -d !!!!!!!!! Here we go, my first real quake-c patch for Quake, and a pretty damn good one if I might add. (that's me being humble) It enables you to sacrifice the heads of your enemies to your favorite deity, who then rewards you with a gift. So, how do I install it ??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What you do is, make a directory under quake, call is sacrifce or whatever, and then unzip this file into it, remember to use -d!!! Then you type quake -game sacrifce and of you go... (I assume you know this, but just in case you didn't...) So, what keys do I use ??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why you ask? But if you must know, here are the impulses you should bind some keys to: impulse 30 - Sacrifice Head impulse 31 - Cycle forward through heads impulse 32 - Cycle backwards through heads I bind [ and ] to the cycle commands, and then e to impulse 30, but that's because its the way I like it. If you feel you should do it differently, go ahead, feel free to change it, it's not like I force you to use my settings... So, what does it do ??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, you get different rewards for different heads. It wouldn't be fair to get the Pentagram of Protection for a dog head, now would it? Here's a quick breakdown of what rewards you can expect... dog \ grunt | 15 Health Points enforcer |____ knight | 100 Armor zombie | wizard / demon \ 25 Health Points ogre |---- hell knight / 150 Armor Vore \_____ Pentagram of Protection, Ring of Shadows Shambler / Quad Damage, 200 Armor, 100 Health Points It randomly gives you one of the gifts for each sacrifice, so don't think you'll get Quad Damage for every Shambler! Thanx, thoughts, bugs and other stuff... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Firstly, I would like to thank the gods of programming, id, for such a great game. (it seems like the right thing to do, eh?) Thanks also go to Jeff Epler for the solid monster patch, which I also use in here, to make it easier to get heads. (just chop up your victim's body...) Bugs : The only real big bug in the patch is the unability (is there such a word ?) to cycle through only the heads that you do have. I couldn't figure this one out. Anyone out there that could maybe tell me? This patch works in single player, I haven't tested it in deathmatch, but I should think would work. If you find that it doesn't, please let me know... Broken on the undernet irc, Ilden in real life (don't laugh, I didn't choose the name...) You can reach me via e-mail at www@rkw.rau.ac.za (yes, it's in South Africa, in case you've wondered. See, we also sometimes bring out some good stuff eh?)
