This image was produced by Bob, a ray tracer whose source code and
executables can be found with the book "Photorealism and Ray Tracing in C",
written by Christopher D. Watkins, Stephen B. Coy and Mark Finlay. The
book should be available at your local bookstore now, if it is not, please
request it. The book was published by M&T Publishing, Inc., San Mateo, CA,
and covers ray tracing theory, practical applications, photorealistic image
generation and ray tracing extensions. Many interesting 3-D databases come
with the book such as Faces, a Skull, some Cars, etc. Procedural database
generators to produce fractal terrain, 3-D Mandelbrot sets, Quaternions and
more are included. Programs to produce tile patterns, trees, sphereflakes
and Menger sponges are also included.

Another book, "Programming in 3 Dimensions / 3-D Graphics, Ray Tracing
and Animation" is also available at your local bookstore. It was written
by Christopher D. Watkins and Larry Sharp for M&T Publishing, Inc.

If you find the photorealism book and software of interest, an advanced
version of the ray tracing program will be available from
