Subj: Setting up remote FidoNetter as if he were at a serious uucp site

So you want to talk to the ISO Modula-2 world? Here you go. Full uucp-style
bi-directional linkage. With UFGATE, it took 20 minutes to set up.

Via dawggon, you can now mail to the following list of folk using proper
uucp-style shorthand, and they should be able to refer to you similarly. You
will blend in far better with the environment this way, and also feel a bit
more like you are in a uucp environment.

Mail coming to dawggon from you should (or is that 'shall'? :-) be from either
"Pat Terry" or "pterry", depending on whether or not you wish a signature
appended. Note that your name and your addressee's name is case-sensitive.

Mail being passed through from FidoNet to uucp will automatically have a
USENET-style signature appended if it is from Pat Terry, and the uucp-world
recipient will still see it as if it came from pterry, not Pat Terry. The
signature I have hacked for Pat Terry looks like

  pterry@dawggon.fidonet.org pterry@f19.n490.z2.fidonet.org FidoNet 2:490/19
  ..!{ mcvax!uunet | tektronix | sun!nosun }!oresoft!dawggon!pterry (Pat Terry)

Similarly, they will address uucp mail to you using an address of one of the
forms in your signature line, i.e. to ..!dawggon!pterry, and it will come to
you on 2:490/19 addressed to Pat Terry. I.e., your correspondents will see you
as if you were at a normal uucp user at a normal uucp site, dawggon. It is
trivial to do this for colleagues at Rhodes as well.

Not bad for shareware, eh?

Here are the folk's alii and addresses which dawggon will now translate
automatically. Note that some of the addresss are based on much newer
information than you gave me (based on the Antibes meeting). I also threw in
some US TAG folk you have met. If you get new info, please send it to me.

To write to someone on this list, you ** do not address the mail to uucp ** and
add a To: line to the text as you do now. Under the new scheme, you just send
it to, for instance, donward on 1:105/6. Yes, the Fido message To: field
should be the uucp name of the correspondent. Address translation is automagic
at dawggon.

Note. These names _are_ case sensitive. Hence, you will not be able to use
Fido-11's message editor, but will need Fido-12 (oops, maybe it capitalizes
too, not sure) or MsgEd. MsgEd 1.94 is actually stable. I will leave them
case sensitive (unless you get desperate) as that is the uucp/USENET
convention.

I can also create mailing lists, if you wish. Eg., I could set it up so you
could send to bsi, and it is a list of recipients.
