Ok, I know this is going to sound REAL stupid, but with UAA, you can
have a little bit of fun. First of all, the prefix for all of UAA
is 786. (and by the way, Alaska's area code is 907). Anyways, you
can get the student desk by dialing 786-1204. At the student desk,
there is a very small switchboard that can connect you to any
extention at UAA, but the switchboard operator is not to bright.
You can call and ask for extention 1204 (the operators extention)
and she will say ,"I'm sorry, that number is busy right now." Gee,
I wonder why. Same if you are calling from an in-house only phone.
Ask the operator to connect you to your extention, and she will say
that it is busy. A good in-house phone to call is 786-3045. This
phone is right across from where the operator is, and it is fun to
call from there (for all you Alaskan's) and observe the operator
trying to figure out her phone. And if an extention is busy, the
operator has no idea of how to put you on hold while you wait for the
person on the extention to hang up the phone. And if you have two
lines, call her on both lines, and ask for an extention. Then wait
for her to answer the other line and ask for the same extention
again. Do this a few times and she will say something about playing
games. Oo! Why not connect the operator to another extention with
your two line phone with confrence? Let me know if you have any
other ideas.

I can be reached on the Bit Bucket in Anchorage Alaska. The number
is (907) 561-2185.
