BUT HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF PHALARIS? ________ Phalaris arundinacea, reed canary grass, grows everywhere in the world outside the polar regions. In Europe, Northern and Eastern Asia (partly in Central-), In North America from New Brunswick to the Southeastern parts of Alaska, from North Carolina to New Mexico, Arizona and Northeastern parts of California. Also in New Zealand. As for Finland (and Scandinavia) where I live, it grows on rocky shores througout the country. It is common. ____ Most likely Phalaris grows on lake- and riverbanks and on seashores, especially rocky. It is often accompanied by Festuca arundinacea, Angelica archangelica ssp. litoralis, Sochus arvensis and Veronica longifolia. Phalaris grows often in rings and in the middle of the spot grows Calla palustris and Bidens-species. Tufts it forms are often only phalaris, but Phragmites, Carex acuta and Itis pseudoacorus may grow amidst it. ________ Phalaris is tall grass, usually about 1 meter up to 2 m., 4 to 7 jointed, hard and smooth (sometimes reddish), leaves 7 to 30 cm long and appr. 1 cm wide. The "flower" is 10 cm long, dense, the seed is appr. 1,7 mm. Pictures and very accurate descriptions of this grass/reed are easy to find in any library. __________ Extraction of DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, which it contains, is relatively simple. However one should get some basic information on chemistry and the substances used in process as some of them are poisonous. Hypothethical extraction follows... First you'd locate the plant, collect as much as you need, and then pulverize it. Freezing it would probably make mashing easier. Once one had suitable mish-mash, some water would be added to make it bit more liquid. Next one would need acid to convert the plant alkaloids into salts. White vinegar or even lemon juice does just fine. If one should have a chemist friend, he'd know a lot more about powerful extraction methods. Anyway, about 1/10th acid in. Give the reaction some time, say overnight and perhaps some heat. Next you'd want to discard the pulp. Defatting with methylene chloride, ether, chloroform or naphta would be in order - add about 1/10th. You'd shake it, and wait until the mixture separates into two layers. The layer you are after would depend on solvent. Now one would lower the pH, say for instance with lye, adding small amounts and checking the pH until it reaches about 10. The alkaloids would now be in free base from again. One would repeat the process after a while (1 to 7 days) three or four (or more) times, and as a result solvent layer should turn reddish or brown. Finally the whole liquid would be poured into shallow container to evaporate. After evaporation, remaining substance should contain the alkaloids. To make this smokable one would add some alcohol, some smokable substance, such as tobacco or oregano and let the alcohol evaporate. As for dosage, the person extracting the alkaloids should do everything with relative accuracy - it is easy to maintain the same dosage later. Dosage would be confirmed by experimentation - first 1/4 gram, in nothing 1/2 gram, and so on... ________ Phalaris, mushrooms and homegrown cannabis are good ways to disconnect yourself from the criminal underground, the drug wars, from this mad society of of ours. LSD, for instance, produces bad feeling because of its illegality, and because you have to be in contact with criminals, who often get their income mainly from heroin or amphetamines (read violence and darkness). Obtaine 60g of dried sprouts estimate to be somwhere between 240-360 grams wet weight. Put the sprouts into 2 cups of 50% white vinegar (5%) and boiled for around 20 minutes. Strain this and repeated two more times. By the third extraction, the resulting liquid very pale and a tingy yellow. TAke the six cups of resulting liquid (light brown) and reduce to under 1/2 cup. Then pour this in a cookie dish and reduce first with a blow dryer and then with an oven, door ajar, at 200 degrees farhenheit. Do untill the gum has hardened into a crusty brown substance. Crumbl and plac in a normal combustion pipe and smoked rapidly and deeply. The effects are of a 20mg dmt dosage. The effects are not very visual but involve a deep expansion of thought and lead to deep understanding of self. This proves conclusively that phalaris arundinicae does contain tryptamines. It would be a better idea to perform an accurate alkaloid extract onthese to leave a crystalline powder. All weights are wet: JLF sells 90g of seeds for 13.00$ and 455g for 50$. If 455g were grown on the 8 day growth cycle described in the Of The Jungle catalogue, harvesting roughly 4000g in a month, this could be extracted to give 200 doses (20g sprouts/dose).
