(UPI) -- Federal authorities said Friday agents had raided the headquarters and several field offices of a tax protest group that has a reputation for telling taxpayers how to vanish from the government's list. A spokesman said the Internal Revenue Service was looking for the membership lists and financial records of Pilot Connection Society, but their search was inconclusive. No one was arrested. IRS agents searched the house of the group's founder and leader, Phillip Marsh, on Thursday. The 10-bedroom Stockton home also serves as the group's headquarters. Agents also searched the house of Darrell and Jill Spencer who work for the group. The IRS agents then seized a "mail drop" where the organization allegedly received millions, including at least $1,200 for each of its tax avoidance kits. Concurrently, the agents raided offices allegedly associated with Pilot Connection Society in Visalia, calif., Reno, Phoenix and Tempe, Ariz. Marsh, 69, conducts workshops throughout the country to tell taxpayers how to "legally and permanently" get their names off the "voluntary" tax lists. The investigation and raids are part of a 3- year-old probe of the largest tax protest group in the country.
