SUBJECT : Can Viir destroy hardware DATE : 02.09.93 FROM : The Norway Int There will always be roumers _About viir which can do both this and _That. Well, ExeBug is capable of changing BIOS settings on Bootable drive, but that is not to damage/change HardWare. Todays _HD are getting smaller & smaller, and the physical strength in the material isn't of the best Quality. To loosen the heads in a harddisk is actually possible. By letting the heads move from track 0 to the last track on the disk several times, _U might physically destroy the whole HD. _U must be Aware of that physical disk configuration isn't the same as you are setting in BIOS. BIOS setting is _Ust a table which refers to the physical disk. If U use BIOSDISK in C and think _U are switching between the first and last track on the disk, U're wrong. U need to know those tables to be sure that _U are switching between the first & last track. The Idea is that _U also have to ( in U'r ass. or C code ) be sure that the track hasen't been reached yet. If _U can tell the head to go to another direction while it got top speed the oposit way, you has reached the maximum of physical power that software can cause on hardWare. I've been tested this on a IBM PS/2 and managed to destroy the HD after 2 hours with continous move of heads. Good Luck _Dudes ! ----------------------< The Norway Int >-------------------------------------
