CONTROLINK-CUSTOMER NETWORK CONTROL (CNC)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

ControLink Digital Channel Service provides customers flexibility in managing
and reconfiguring their special service networks.  Customer Network Control
is a central office based service which enables customers to electronically
reconfigure their Private Line Services to meet specific requirements
including disaster recovery, private line and switched services on a common
DS1, and programable automatic rerouting of data and/or voice services.

Customer Network Control includes real-time monitoring and reconfiguration of
DS1s and voicegrade/digital private lines equipped with Digital Cross-Connect
Terminations without the direct intervention of the utility's personnel.  CNC
allows customers to control their own network configurations through dial-up
or dedicated access.  Dial-up service is a local call in GTE service areas.
Dedicated access requires a data circuit from a private-line tariff.

 -    Multi-level security through session-variable encrypted code that
      requires a customer-specific encrypted response.
 -    Customer established Virtual Private Networks.

 -    Elimination of time-consuming and expensive service order requests.
 -    Faster fault isolation.  (In case of outage, customer can perform a
      full loopback of any circuit at the DCS to expedite network
      restoration.)
 -    Automatic alternate facilities selection if the primary route
      experiences a network outage.
 -    Network performance reports including Network Alarms, Network
      Outages, Facilities Performance, and Customer Activity.

Customer Network Control is presently limited to those customers with
circuits that pass through central offices that are equipped with Digital
Cross-Connect Systems, or who are willing to reconfigure their networks into
our Digital Cross-Connect Systems.
