AUTOMATED INFORMATION SERVICES PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: CentraNet (Centrex) Automated Information Services (AIS) is a group of voice-processing service features that allow a caller to interact with information through a touch-tone telephone. The caller can navigate through one or more menus to choose a desired destination. The destinations include individual extensions, voice mailboxes, and pre-recorded voice narratives. Specific services to be rolled out initially are Automated Attendant (AA) and Information Bulletin Board (IBB). AA transfers incoming calls to a person, a department, or a voice-messaging system. A caller receives a recorded greeting and then navigates through one or more menus, with the AIS system monitoring the progression and, finally, transferring the caller to the desired destination. Similarly, the IBB directs the caller through one or more menus to a selection of pre-recorded messages. Voice information may be provided by tape or can be updated by telephone.
