Most people in the world know of or have heard of the olympics, but many

probley don't know when or where the games originated.  Theybegan in a country called 

Greece, nearly 3 thousand years ago.  There are many diffrent versions of the begining of 

the olympic games our legend believes the games started with a compitision between, 

Pelops, a man in love with King Oenomaus daughter.  The agreement was if Pelops 

passed a contest that tested: Strength, Courage, and Intellegence he could marry her 

daughter.  Pelops passed the tests and married King Oenomases  

daughter and Pelops told the king to make the tests into games to test people in a number 

of compitisions. The king agreed and then began the olympic games.
