The capital of Egypt is Cairo. It is the largest city in both Africa and
the middle east. The population of Cairo is 5,139,000. They manufacture
cement, textiles, vegatable oils, beer, and paper.

GEOGRAPHY
	The Nile River is the only river in Egypt. It has no tributaries and it is
navigable as far south as Aswan. It is the longest river in Africa and it's 3,485
miles in length. The Nile River's source is Lake Victoria.
	Mount Katherine is the highest point,8,668 feet. The lowest point is the
Qattara Depression, 436 feet. The Qattara Depression is a low area, with a
salt marsh, in the Western Desert. 
	The Sahara Desert covers about two-thirds of  Egypt and the Libyan
Desert covers nearly 70%. The deserts are only populated by nomadic tribes
that know how to live in harsh environments. Deserts extend on Egypt's west
and south border. Almost 90% of Egypt is desert.
	An oasis is an area of water and plant life in the middle of the desert.
Usually oases are green from getting water underground in streams. The  five
most important oases are located in the Libyan Desert. They are: Farafirah,
Bahriyah, Dakhilah, Kharijah, and Siwah. Fields, lakes, as well as temples
and fortresses are found in Kharijah and Dakhilah. Kharijah is the largest
oasis in Egypt. It stretches about 200 miles from end to end. Kharijah is also
know as the Great Oasis.
	
PEOPLE
	The religions of people that live in Egypt are Islams and Coptic
Christanity. 90% of the Egyptians are Muslims. Muslims believe in one god
which is named Muhammad,a holy man. Arabic is the official language.

CLIMATE
	The climate in Egypt is mostly hot and dry. There are only two seasons
in Egypt, summer and winter. In the summer (May-October) the temperature
usually falls between 80-110 F. The winter time (November-April) is usually
around 55-70 F.

JOBS
	Many of the common jobs in Egypt are: 45% agriculture, 13%
manufacturing and mining, 10% banking and trade, 5% construction 4%
transportation and communication, 1% housing, 1% utilites, and  21% other
services. The buisiness hours are from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 7
p.m. In Egypt Friday is a day of rest with no work.
