Most of all the religions have different myths of how the world was created. In this report I am going to tell you about two different religious myths of how our world was created. The myths of the Egyptian and the Scandinavians will be compared with the myth of The Book of Genesis. The Egyptians account of creation started out with only an ocean. Then Ra, the sun, came out of an egg that was located on the surface of the water, and brought forth four children, the gods Shu and Ged and the goddesses Tefnut and Nut. The goddesses became the atmosphere and Geb became the earth who raised up Nut and she became the sky. Geb and Nut later had two sons, Set and Osirs. Osirs later succeeded Ra as monarch of the earth. Set hated his brother and kill him. Later Set was defeated by Osirs spouse and she became the ruler of the earth. The Book of Genesis has a lot different myth of how the world was created. There was only one god in the Genesis account, as in the Egyptian account there was five or six different gods, and all of them controlled different sections of the earth. God did not have any children to help create the earth in the Genesis account. Ra had four children that helped contributed to the creation of the earth. The only real comparison is both of the myths had God or Gods create the earth. The Scandinavian account of creation is written in The Eddic Poem Voluspa. It portrayed a period of primeval chaos, followed by the creations of giants, god, and finally humankind. There were five Gods of the earth, Ginnungagap, Jotunheim, Niflhein, Muspellshiem, and Nidhogg. The gods were served by a class of priest-chieftains godar. Worships were originally conducted outdoors, under the guardian trees, near sacred wells, and within an sacred arrangements of stones. Later wooden temples were built to practice worshipping the gods. At certain temples they would sacrifice animals and even human beings for their gods. In the Scandinavian account there were also many gods compared to the Genesis account. The gods also had individual jobs in creating the earth. There are more comparisons between the Scandinavian account and the Genesis account. Both had certain areas where the humans would worship their god or gods. Also both accounts had some of the similar creations such as evil, stars, water, seasons, and night and day. Religious salvation was the idea of incorporation in a community of the will of god. The worshippers of the gods wanted certain things from god to survive on there own. When the creation of the world was in effected the gods did not create everything to survive on, so when the human ran out of the important goods they needed to survive they turned to the gods from a replacement or more of what they needed. During certain times when the gods were angry with the humans they purposely did not give them goods they needed to survive on. There are many more myths than the three that are explained in this paper. No one actually knows how the world was created. There are many theories on the creation of the world, both scientific and religious. We may never know how we arrive here on earth and why we are even here today living our lives and always wandering how our plant started. ࡱ; SummaryInformation(@t߻@@| Microsoft Word 6.06ࡱ; BGuc 1LM, B K@Normala "A@"Default Paragraph Font$'@$Annotation ReferencecB B B qG B $ Jerry LynchC:\WINWORD\CREATE.DOC@HP DeskJet 560C PrinterLPT1:DESKJETCHP DeskJet 560C Printer ,,,@^|HP DeskJet 560C Printer ,,,@^|66 661Times New Roman Symbol &Arial"h[ EE*$2Creation Jerry Lynch Jerry Lynchࡱ; Root Entry F 9%@CompObjbWordDocumentObjectPoolżż !"#$%&SummaryInformation( FMicrosoft Word 6.0 Document MSWordDocWord.Document.6; Oh+'0 ( L p $ Hl'7lb۰mT{Gtm]G{AC:\WINWORD\NORMAL.DOT Creation Jerry Lynch Jerry Lynch@?y@t߻@p8%@| Microsoft Word 6.07 Jerry Lynchࡱ; ܥe3 eB 2h2222 < 2^1FFFFFFFFjlll'ST21-F FFFF1FFFFFFFFFjFjF$FCreation by Nick Prala period 2 Mr. Metz We know as of right now the world was created in many different ways.
