FEATURE OPERATION:

A customer, using a compatible coin telephone, places a call in the normal
manner. If the called line is busy or is not answered in a predetermined
number of rings, the interface plays a recorded announcement to indicate
a voice message service is available. The customer can continue the call by
waiting for the called line to answer, can terminate the call in the normal
manner, or indicate use of the voice message service.

Immediately after the customer indicates use of the voice message service, the
interface breaks the connection to the central office switch and initiates a
call to an ESP's voice message system. The voice message system then records
and delivers the message as programmed by the ESP.

TECHNOLOGICAL AND FEATURE INTERACTION CONSIDERATIONS:

1. Line Monitor Service equipment is located in the central office and is
connected in-line with the analog transmission path for compatible coin
   operated lines.

2. Line Monitor Service equipment may be used only with coin operated
telephones equipped with Touch-Tone Calling Service (DTMF).

3. Line Monitor Service is available in increments of 32 lines.
