SHAREWARE RELEASE NOTES V1.00.21b (October 31, 1994) __________________________________________________________________ *** VBRUN300.DLL required *** This program requires VBRUN300.DLL (Visual Basic Runtime.) VBRUN200.DLL and VBRUN100.DLL will not work. The VBRUN300.DLL file should be placed in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. VBRUN300.DLL is NOT included in FLASH.EXE, the self-extracting executable containing StudyMaster Flash Cards, because including it would greatly increase the size of the file, and many users already have VBRUN300.DLL anyways. If you don't have it (which will be obvious because the program won't load!) many BBS's have it, or it is available from CompuServe, GEnie, AOL, etc. If you *really* can't find it, send $2 to cover S&H and the cost of the disk to the registration address given later in this file, and I will send you a copy. Or, send $12 to get a registered copy of the latest shareware version. Be sure to note that you need a copy of VBRUN300.DLL, as it is not normally included on the shareware disks. __________________________________________________________________ *** How to install Shareware Version *** Simple... just copy the file FLASH.EXE into its own directory and run it. All the files will extract. Then, install an icon into Program Manager for the file FLASHCRD.EXE and run the program! Remember, you MUST have VBRUN300.DLL (Visual Basic Runtime) to use this software. __________________________________________________________________ *** Changes to this version from the September 3, 1994 version (1.00.20a) are as follows: * New registration system accepts your registration number and eliminates the display of the "nag dialog boxes." * New registration address. * The Edit Window is now resizable, highly useful on Super- VGA monitors. * You can now change the font in the Edit Window as well as the Card Window. This makes it possible to edit using fonts containing special characters, math symbols, etc. * The new "QuickButton" in the card window parallels the operation of the Pop-up Menu autopositioning feature and allows a quick scan of the deck without having to use the right mouse button. --------------------------------------------- *** .VBX Files *** This program requires four .VBX files, which are included. They can stay in the directory into which you install StudyMaster Flash Cards. If you already have these .VBX files, you can delete the copies in your Flash Cards directory, but before doing so, be sure that your other copies of the .VBX files are compatible. They should be, but you never know what versions are out there. __________________________________________________________________ *** Address Change! *** The address to register this program has changed from previous shareware versions. If you have an older version, be sure to delete it and replace it with the current version. __________________________________________________________________ *** Thank you for trying this program! ** We hope you find it useful. If you do, please be sure and register your copy. Paying the shareware fee of $10 (which we think is pretty reasonable) helps to insure that future products, as well as support for this one, will continue to be available. To register, send a check for $10, (or $12 if you wish to receive a 3.5" disk by return mail containing the latest shareware version) made out to "Michael P. Cohan" to: StudyMaster Flash Cards c/o Michael P. Cohan Attn: Registration 245 Union Blvd. Apt. 606 St. Louis, MO 63108 You can contact the author directly on America Online, "MikeC65". __________________________________________________________________ *** Help Data File *** Note that the help data for the shareware file is the unmodified help file from the commercial version. The limitations of the shareware version are explained in the dialog box which displays when you run the program. The WFCHELP.FCH file must be in the same directory as the FLASHCRD.EXE file in order for on-line help to be accessible. __________________________________________________________________ *** Commercial Version of StudyMaster Flash Cards *** If you like this program, please consider ordering the full commercial version. The commercial version is much more useful than the shareware version. You can have much larger decks with up to 99 categories and thousands of cards (as against 10 categories and 300 cards maximum for the shareware version), and you get full use of the printing functions. The full version is highly useful. The author of this program can attest to that, as he originally wrote StudyMaster Flash Cards for his own use as a law school study aid, and has used it for many classes, as well as studying for the bar exam, with excellent results. For pricing on the commercial version, see How to Register and Upgrade on the help menu of StudyMaster Flashcards. RELEASE NOTES version 1.00.15d, August 22, 1994. _____________________________________________ New changes from prior (May 26th) version: * Up to 99 categories per deck. (shareware version allows 10 max.) * Up to 40 cards per category (shareware version allows only up to 30; see notes on shareware versions later in this file.) * Next Card command now takes you into the next category if you are at the end of the current category. Previous Card command now takes you into the previous category if you are at the start of the current category. This greatly increases the usability of the View Menu commands, and also makes it much more conven- ient to read through the deck. * Go to Random Card command now can select random cards from anywhere in the deck. A new option in the Set Up Options dialog box (this dialog box was formerly labeled Set Up Card Window) lets you choose between selecting random cards from the entire deck (the default) or only from within the current category. * New command in the Edit dialog box: Select and Delete Cards on the Card menu lets you delete multiple cards at once. * New Drag and Drop functions in the Edit dialog box allow you to execute some common commands using a visual metaphor. * Select and Print Cards command now allows you to include your test answers and comments in your printout, if there are any. (this command is disabled in the Shareware version.) * Statusbar now displays total number of cards in the deck and your current position in it, in addition to your location within the current category. * Some dialog boxes have been redesigned for improved usability. * The Card Window now contains a button to allow you to mark the card, and the main window's toolbar buttons have been rearranged and some new commands have been added to the toolbar. * The Deck Menu command called "Set Up Card Window..." in the prior version of the program is now called "Set Up Options...". _________________________________________________________________
