DRAGSTRIP PLUS REVISION HISTORY (Major release versions only) Version 2.5, 2.51, 2.6 (09/92 - 12/92): 1. Serious print error corrected --if user set shift point and then attempted to print vehicle combination, program would hang. 2. Reliability of the program's Copy Protection scheme was greatly improved on marginal computer systems. 3. Default exhaust valve size for aluminum and steel racing heads is now 1.60 instead of 1.63; all program Help files were improved under new file names 4. Ford and Chrysler transmissions added to program; camshaft "lobe centers" now renamed as camshaft "lobe separation". 5. Revolutionary Concept's Fax number added; Martel Brothers Racing Products credited as exclusive program distributor. Version 2.80, 2.81 (01/93): 1. Major improvements and advancements in the program's E.T. logic were made, resulting in improved shift points, optimum carburetor recommendations, optimum gear & stall suggestions, and better E.T. accuracy. Most changes affect only the faster engine combinations, although engine combinations that are somewhat unbalanced may experience particularly dramatic improvements. Slower street cars (in the 14 second and slower range) are not likely to be affected in any way. As a result of the new logic overhead, program execution time increased by aprox. 60%. 2. Numerous corrections and improvements were made to both the E.T. logic and Advice screen suggestions for Injected engine combinations. 3. If the combination is turbocharged or supercharged, low compressions are now accepted (instead of causing a fatal combination error). In addition, Advice Screen Compression ratio suggestions are now tied in to the actual amount of supercharger or turbocharger Boost, greatly improving the validity of the advice. 4. Threshold carburetor size has been decreased to prevent rejection of marginal engine combinations due to "insufficient" carburetion. 5. Rocker Arm Ratio suggestions in the Advice Screen were improved to prevent display of conflicting messages. 6. Display priority of the Advice Screen's 40 suggestions and warnings was reorganized so the most important messages are always displayed, while the least important messages (at that time) are off the screen. 7. "F3=ADVICE" prompt no longer flashes or appears in bold if Advice screen selection is invalid due to combination error elsewhere. 8. Vehicle database listing printouts now automatically execute a printer form feed upon completion; "Install" file reverts to being a batch file instead of a .com file; installation improvements made. Version 3.00 (05/03/93): 1. New camshaft analysis formulas were added, improving DragStrip Plus' E.T., MPH, and shift point accuracy, and Advice Screen suggestions. A new statistic, the "Overall Camshaft Profile" rating in the Advice Screen, greatly simplifies the task of determining the best cam for any given engine combination. 2. The program now calculates optimum primary header lengths, top speed in each gear at engine shift point, and optimum fuel injector sizes (if fuel injected); supports for dual turbochargers added. 3. All alcohol fuel logic algorithms in the program were completely replaced in order to correct severe errors that affected the faster alcohol combinations; in addition, for the first time, DragStrip Plus will now calculate the performance of blown Alcohol dragsters. 4. A powerful new feature has been added to the program: users can now directly customize DragStrip Plus' E.T. performance calculations and the Advice Screen's part ratings and combination improvement suggestions by editing new program file RACE0XX.RTS (documented in full in DragStrip Plus' new improved User's Manual, and also in revised program file RACEPRM.DOC). Furthermore, identifiers for each database element have been incorporated directly into the program's parameter file, eliminating further need for file RACEPRM.KEY (no longer included). 5. For the first time, DragStrip Plus will now correctly predict the E.T.s of vehicles that finish the quarter mile in either a transmission overdrive gear or a transmission downshift gear (transmission gears other than the typical "high" or 1 : 1 final gear across the finish line); "Optimum Gear" calculations will be adjusted to match if the transmission has one or more overdrive gears. 6. Motorcycles can now be calculated by the program (no accuracy guaranteed!) as a result (among other things) from allowable input ranges of several variables having been increased: Tire Height widened to 20-44", Trans Slip increased to 25% maximum, top Gear ratio increased to 8.40, Driver' Weight minimum now 80 lbs., Vehicle's Weight widened to 350-6000; Rocker Arm Ratio will now accept 3-digit inputs, such "1.52 : 1". 7. E.T. performances of Stock and Super Stock cars can now be accurately computed by DragStrip Plus thanks to new program input "Engine Quality"; additionally, program accuracy in forecasting the performance of either exceptionally built or poorly built engine combinations has been dramatically improved as well. 8. Database maximum capacity has been increased to 115 vehicles, while the first four "Example cars" in the vehicle database have been locked to ensure these combinations will always match the User's Manual tutorial (existing user's databases will not be affected, only new vehicle databases). Also, a 6 second Pro-Modified combination was added to the vehicle database (new users only). 9. The program's print routine has been replaced to correct a serious problem affecting certain printers models that caused them not to print; additionally, printer connection lockups are impossible now. 10. For E.T. increased accuracy, temperature default was removed while transmission slippage was made a required input once again; numerous new defaults were added throughout the program and the Setup utility; an aggravating series of menu cycling errors was fixed. 11. Program now tests computer system for sufficient RAM memory during program load and guides user through needed system changes, if any (reason: 512K RAM memory computer systems may experience difficulties with this version's increased memory requirements); all internal program Help was upgraded to match DragStrip Plus's newly overhauled User's Manual. Version 3.1 (05/26/93): 1. Alcohol, turbocharger and supercharger E.T. logic was reworked again to further improve E.T. & MPH accuracy and to correct a series of minor errors. 2. Transmission upshift and downshift logic errors have been corrected. 3. The program's print routine was replaced again to correct serious problems affecting certain printers models. 4. Quick Compute and Dyno mode errors that resulted in program crashes and other problems have been fixed. 5. A new feature, swap function , was added to the vehicle database. Version 3.2 (07/22/94): 1. Minor corrections to certain combinations' 60 foot & 1/8 mile E.T.s and MPHs. 2. Optimum Injector size error corrected. 3. Tire growth emphasis added throughout program and help files. 4. Program installation utility improved. 5. Revolutionary Concept's modem support BBS added to program and text files. Version 3.3 (08/12/94): 1. Adds internal support for BBS modem operations. 2. Emphasizes that "Detailed Analysis" mode is DragStrip Plus' best, for new user's benefit. 3. The program's hardware requirments were stiffened. Version 3.4 (05/18/95): 1. Changed technical support postal address and added email address. 2. Removed modem BBS number. Version 4.02 (10/27/95): 1. Removed program copy protection. 2. Shareware/Registered sub-versions created. 3. Technical support was switched from phone to e-mail. Version 4.05 (01/23/96): 1. Improved the automated installation routine, revised documentation.
