UPGRADING TO VERSION 10-31+
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Released on December 1st, 1994.
Here are IMPORTANT STEPS for sysops upgrading from any versions prior to
release 10-31-94:
1. Disable or REM out from your batch files ANY utilities that use your
   file base records. For example, file listers, top file compilers,
   decriptions correctors etc. Contact your utility support site for new
   versions.
2. Delete your EXTENDED.DAT file from your RG DATA directory.
3. Log on locally and go into your sysop menu and use the choice to "RECHECK
   ALL FILES". Answer YES to re-check ALL bases and YES to re-import file
   descriptions. If you don't have the "re-check" option just edit your sysop
   menu and *create* one. Ex:
Menu filename: SYSOP
Command #24 of 24
1. Long descript :[A] Verify Files
2. Short descript:[A] Verify Files
3. Menu keys     :A
4. ACS required  :"S255"
5. Cmdkeys       :*5
6. Options       :
   Flags         :None
Q. Quit
Edit menu (?=help) :
4. All extended descriptions that were entered by hand will now display as
   "trash" on your screen. You need to EDIT those specific entries, select "D"
   to delete the entry. When asked to "erase file also" reply NO. You can then
   later do a local upload and the entry will display properly. Files with
   FILE_ID.DIZ previously uploaded will not be affected. [The reason for the
   weird characters onscreen is because the manually entered descriptions were
   pointing to cells in the array that does not contain anything.]
5. Modify your "[P]ause, [N]ext Directory" string to read "Illegal Logon" or
   whatever you wish to appear during a mismatch of passwords. The "pause/next"
   string in the file section is no longer used.
That's all there is to it. It may take minutes or hours to import the
descriptions, in the new 10-line record format, depending on the size of your
filebase and the speed of your computer.
Good luck with this new version. I hope this text file proved helpful.
