command line options.

*** About the Author/Programmer followed by Reviewer Comments:

John Timothy Gray (Tim). Is a therapist at
a residntial treatment center for emotionally disturbed
adolescents. Tim first learned to use a computer at work
about six years ago. He realized that he enjoyed working on a
computer and began to learn to program in BASIC. Tim has been
programming for about five and a half years. Computers were
a hobby for in the beginning but soon discovered that he
was hooked.
Tim, had included many enhancements in his autoexec.bat
file such as running a hard disk compression utility, a batch
file that cleaned up his hard disk by erasing any backup files,
and others. These were tasks that he wanted to do, only one time
a day but was doing them everytime the computer was turned on.
At first, he tried to figure out a way to run certain programs
only once a day from from the autoexec.bat file by using
errorlevel return codes, but soon realized that wasn't the
best alternative.
Tim, became very intrigued with the idea of solving this
mystery. ONEADAY is the solution to the puzzle. ONEADAY was
very simple in the beginning--all it did was see if it
(ONEADAY) had already been run today (by comparing the
system date to a date saved in a file that ONEADAY creates
and updates--2DAY.GSD) and if not would process any programs
that you entered on the command line. As uses for ONEADAY
increased, decided to begin adding additional features to
ONEADAY, such as, picking a specific day of the month or day
of the week, or the timed confirmation screens.
ONEADAY grew into a very useful and, I think, unique utility.
Tim says, "I am always trying to improve ONEADAY. Some of the
improvements that I am working on for version 2 include a
more user-friendly interface that allows you to save your
options to a configuration file. This will eliminate the
necessity for a lot of lines in a batch file. One line in
your autoexec.bat, for example, might be enough to meet your
needs. You will still be able to run ONEADAY in the current
method but you will have the option. I will include color
support for version 2. I am including a reboot option in
case any parameters need to be reset after ONEADAY has run.
I am working on an option to run only before or after a time
of the day that the user specifies."
Many of the above ideas for additional features were
suggested by current users. Tim is very interested in hearing
any comments that any person who uses or tries ONEADAY may
have. "I believe that this is the only way to really
serve the software users--by taking their suggestions
seriously."

Reviewer Comments:

Morris Davis - a fast and efficient way to handle commands for all
my purposes.... I like it and have found it to be
                most helpful.

David Hightower - I was a little confused at first but stayed at it
and got it to do things I have been wanting done
all in the order I wanted them... Now if I had
only taken the time to read the documentation
I could have saved myself some time...I did find
the doucmentation to be easy to read and well
                   worth doing so.

Michael Gray - Make life easier by using this utility, I highly recommend
                it.
