I would love any and all info you could send me on Thomas
Foster, just tell me how you want to exchange info., and what the
copying cost would be. It will be great to get his family
straightened out, as on my list he has two daughters named Nancy.
They have the same death date, so just must be a mix up on birth
dates. I have the following info on Thomas Foster's father in case
you want it.

"Thomas Foster, according to D.A.R. records - is the son of
William Foster b. 1751 Boston, Mass died at his home in Muddy Creek,
PA. 1851 - William Foster in Philadelphia Co. tax list during Rev.
period- located Lower Dublin Twsp. Philadelphia Co., Pa. about about
10 miles from the city of Philadelphia- at this time he had living in
his home 4 white males 16 & over 3 white males under 16 and 4 females.
D.A.R. records state that William Foster had these sons- Edward,
Joseph, William, Thomas, Samuel & John. William Foster served in 4th
class Philadelphia Co. Militia, under Capt. Thomas Holmes. This
service was less than six months so no pension record exists as none
was due. Foster family records by W. T. Foster in 1916 state that
Thomas Foster, his brothers Samuel & John went to Kentucky shortly
after the Re. War. However Thomas Foster was not found in Kentucky
records until 1803. In 1807 he owned 164 acres on Beaver Creek -and
had one slave- he remained here until 1813 when he dissapeared from
the county."

Bob, my mother was Eunice Wofford Foster Mebane and I found this
text in her papers after she died. I don't know how the author
was related to us, and cannot vouch for its accuracy. It might be
of interest, however.

6. Anacher, The Danish Noble, Governor of Flanders and Great
     Forester of France.
7. Baldwin II, Great Forrester and Governor Flanders, married
Princess Judith, daughter of Charles the Bald, king of
Aquitania and Neustria. Later these constituted the Kingdom
     of France.
8. Baldwin II, Great Forrester and Governor of Flanders,
married Princess Alfrith, daughter of Alfred the Great, King
     of England.

GENEALOGY -------------------------------
R.Y. - I haven't run across a "Diantha FOSTER" .....yet!!! When the book
on "The Family of David FOSTER of Williamstown, MA" arrives, I'll be sure
to take a look for you. My 1g and 2g-grandfathers had a number of brothers
and they didn't all stick in the same spot, so there may be a chance that
I'll find something for you.
I see that you're from the beautiful town of Marietta. I've been
through there many times and to there many times. I lived in Athens from
1969-75 and my daughter's pediatrician was a Dr. Jones in Marietta. She had
a lot of problems in those years!!! A Don Jones, attorney was also a
friend through philatelic circles. If that's not enough...my grandmother's
brother, John Edgar, was a tailor there for many, many years!!!! And that's
not all....my uncle, Dayton Haile Berlin, was a native of Marietta. He was
in his 90s when he died several years ago in La Mesa, CA.
May also contact you later for info on the Ohio River Museum,
as I think I've got some items which might prove interesting for their
collection.
In the meantime, keep the faith and good hunting in '92!
