From the NH State Library in Concord, Stark town records volume 1
page 704 "The bonds of Matrimony was entered into between Mister Ira
Emerry and Miss Mercy Leighton both of Dummer on the 22nd day of
August 1831 before me Arron Potter Juctice Peace."

Also found a volume titles "Genealogical Records of the Decscendents
of John and Anthony Emery of Newbury MA" by Rev Rufus Emery published
in 1890 at Salem by Emery Cleves.

This volume has record of Ira, b. 30 July 1811 m. and d. 13 June
1879. He was the son of Nathaniel (b 7 May 1789 d. 29 Dec 1820) and
Deborah Rogers (b. 27 Nov 1784 d. 1 Oct 1877.) Ira's siblings were
Dolly, Hannah, Jonathan, Jane and Martha B which seem to match with
his children's names. Nathaniel was of Bartlett, NH also in Coos
County.

The genealogy shows the following lineage:
John Emery m. Agnes (Romsey, Hauntshire)
John Emery, Sr. m. Mary Shatswell (widow Webster)
  Jonathan Emery m. Mary Woodman
   Jonathan Emery m. Ruth Richardson
Humphrey m. Sarah Heath (Haverhill, MA)
     Enoch Emery m. Rachell Tyrrell
      Nathaniel Emery m. Deborah Rogers
       Ira Emery m. Mercy Leighton

A quick check in the NH Vital Statistics room had only the briefest
entry for Ira's marriage.

JOHN EMERY was born September 29, 1598, in England. He
and his brother Anthony set sail from Southampton, April 3,
1635, in the ship James, William Cooper, Master, accompanied
by their wives and children. The sailing vessel reached
Boston, June 3rd following, and shortly thereafter John Emery
went to Newbury, where the town granted unto him a half acre
of ground for a house-lot.
On December 22, 1637, John Emery was fined twenty
shillings for fencing ground that had not been laid out, but
on February 1 1638, the town ordered that he be given "that
part of ground which was already inclosed."
John Emery, Sr., as he was called, was admitted a
freeman, June 2, 1641, and was listed as one of the ninety-
one freeholders of Newbury, December 2, 1642. In the same
year he was on a committee to "make a valuation of all the
property in the town, for the purpose of proportioning each
man's share in the new division."
On March 16, 1663, he was brought to the court at
Ipswich, Massachusetts, for "entertaining travellers and
Quakers," for which he was fined 4 pounds, costs and fees.
His quaint record of the offense is given as follows: "yt two
men quakers wr entertained very kindly to bed and table &
John Emmerie shok ym by ye hand and bid you welcome."
Although John Emery, in May of 1663, petitioned the General
Court for remission of the fine, the petition being signed by
the selectman of the town and fifty citizens, the fine was
not remitted.
On April 10, 1644, John Emery received a grant of
twenty-two acres, five rods, "being his own and Henry
Palmer's portion of Divident land in the great field beyond
the new town."
Among the offices to which John Emery was chosen by the
townspeople are the following: selectman in 1661; fence
viewer and grandjuryman in 1666; jury of trials, 1672, and
appointee to carry votes to Salem, 1676.
Died, in Newbury, Massachusetts, November 3, 1683. His
will dated May 1, 1680, was proved November 27, 1683.
Married, first, in England, Mary ____; she died in
Newbury, in April, 1649.
Married, second, October 29, 1650, Mary (Shatswell)
Webster, widow of John Webster, of Ipswich. (See WEBSTER.)
She died April 28, 1694.

[2]Holman reports first wife of John EMERY #2, whom he married in
England, "said to have been Mary". Davis calls the marriage on
26 June 1620 at Whiteparish of John EMORYE and Alice GRANTHAM
"an interesting possibility" and notes that one Andrew GRANTHAM
died in Newbury MA 1688. Davis calls name "Mary" and death date
of April 1649 found in the Emery genealogy to be "synthetic"
information about the first wife of John EMERY #2. Burns claims
confidently that wife was Alice GRANTHAM who d. 28 Apr 1649 in
Newbury. Torrey cautiously calls the wife of John EMERY #2
" [?Alice GRANTHAM?] ", which he considers to be just a
conjecture, and certainly not proven. I shall side with Davis &
Torrey and present the name of Alice GRANTHAM as a "possibility",
not a "probability" or a "presumption."

It would appear that your Eleanor EMERY and John BAILEY are the same as
mine. I am descended from their son Joseph. I have more on John BAILEY if
you are interested. I did not have John's 1st wife's name, only his second
Mary SHATSWELL widow of John WEBSTER who he married 29 Aug 1650, too late
to be Eleanor's mother. My records show that Eleanor with her parents on
the 'James' 1635.

I was told by Sandy Clunies on this echo that the EMERY family association
has everything on John and Anothny EMERY on computer and are seeking
contributions of lineages and will send out data with SASE. I have not yet
donw this. Write author of recent volumes:
