where.com

This US-origin freeware utility which is knowned and used as no other
in Europe (why the author is anonymous ?) and may be very useful if you ever
placed Layo-files in a wrong directory.
Before typing LAYO1E CNF\FILEnn.CNF you might type:

WHERE FILEnn
to see if FILEnn.CMP, FILEnn.NET and FILEnn.CNF (for existing
circuits) are all in the \CNF\ or in whatever other \CNFxnn\, perhaps even in
\CNF\newCNFn\7\

In that last case the command to load the circuit should be:

LAYO1E CNF\NEWCNFN\FILEnn.CNF

Or you might take a look if the corresponding FILEnn.PLY already exist.
If *.PLY exist but you want to redo the circuit from the start - for instance if you are training yourself -, first rename that PLY or even delete it.
If you don't LAYO1 will immediately load the PLY as it was saved with F4 or automatically the last time you worked on it.

If you want no SAVE at all during exercising quit Layo1 with
/quit (slash and 'quit' in lowercase)

Note:
It will be helpfull to use the freeware utility 'DOSEDIT'
It gives the history of the commands ever typed on keyboard since last boot.
If you have DOSEDIT in your AUTOEXEC.BAT, after leaving the Layo1 editor
the arrow-Up and arrow-Down keys will type for you these commands.
You edit them.

If you do not have the Layo MANAGER which toglles between the Layo1 graphic
editor and a build in Text editor, you might want to use your own text-
editor to make quick CMP and NET changements in ASCII.
If so DOSEDIT prevents a lot of typing.

DON'T MAKE CMP or NET CHANGEMENTS WITHOUT THE MANAGER IF YOUR PLY IS ALREADY
REASONABLE BECAUSE WITHOUT THE MANAGER THERE WILL BE NO FOREWARD ANNOTATION.
ONCE UNDERWAY USE b Enter CTRL_F3 TO REPLACE COMPONENTS AND
MENU OPTIONS EDIT NETLIST TO MODIFY NETS. SAVE EXPLICITELY IN
MENU FILE SAVE NET.

HOWEVER LOAD MANY COMPONENTS AUTOMATICALLY IN AN OTHER SEQUENCE IF THE PLY
DOES NOT EXIST or NOT SATISFYING, DO IT WITH PCTOOLS OR ANY OTHER SIMPLE EDITOR

To conclude it works very fast as follows:

WHERE FILEnn if OK,
LAYO1E CNF\FILEnn.CNF IF NOT OK,
/quit
CD CNF
PCTOOLS (or any other editor not producing Control-characters)
make changements in CMP or NET)
CD..
arrow key repeats for you "LAYO1E CNF\FILEnn.CNF"

etc.

ps	DOSEDIT will be in any BBS for downloading.
