Installation:

Once the file has been unzipped, create a directory for the program and
copy the file TM.EXE to there. Place the file TASKS.INI in the subdirectory
C:\WINDOWS. Place the files DDEML.DLL, CMDIALOG.VBX, COMMDLG.DLL in the
directory C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. Do NOT overwrite any versions of these files
which may already be there as they could be later versions.

To create the icon in Program Manager select File New from the menu. Press
OK and enter the description as Task Master. The command line is
<directory path>\TM.EXE and the working directory is <directory path>. Press
OK and the icon will appear in the current program group. It can be dragged
to a new location if desired.

The program needs VBRUN300.DLL present in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

Instructions on using the program:

After loading and clearing the introduction screen you will see a small
floating window at the bottom of the screen. This window always remains
on top when a windows application is loaded. The window can be dragged
to a new position. The position is always saved off so that it reappears
in the same place when loaded.

The window shows the time, day of week, date, memory and resources available.
There is a pull down list which shows all current tasks. Click on one of
these to make it current.

There are three programmable buttons:

N - Loads notepad
C - Loads calculator
F - Loads file Manager

There is also a button marked M which takes you in to a setup screen.

From the setup screen you can:

1. Minimise the Task Master window so that it only shows as an icon - date,
time and memory are still visible.

2. Disable any screen savers completely by toggling the button 'Screen
Saver On/Off'. Screen saver status is saved off.

3. Remove Task Master by pressing the button 'Kill Task Master'

4. Launch any application. There is a list box of all program groups
set up in Program Manager. Click on a group and another list box will
show you the programs within that group. Click on the program to launch
it. This part of the program relies on Dynamic Data Exchange from Program
Manager - if you are using a different shell then this function may not
be available.

5. Make any task window a floating topmost window. There is a list box
on this screen of all available tasks. Click on selected one and you are
asked the question 'Make window topmost'. If you answer 'Yes' that window
becomes a topmost floating window. It is best to then minimise that window
to an icon, otherwise nothing else will be seen.

If you have a window set to topmost, if you click on it in the topmost list
box and answer 'No' it will revert to normal window settings.

6. Set up appointments. To do this enter a string in the appointments box.
There must be no carriage returns in the string.

The rules are the time is followed by '>' and then the appointment
description which is followed by '|'

Dates can be included but they must come ahead of times.

The format is:
9:00am>meeting downstairs|

You can include a date and you can use other time formats:
29/3/96 9.00>meeting downstairs|

You can enter up to 64 appointments:
9:00am>meeting downstairs|10:00am>coffee break|12:30pm>lunch|

The appointments need not be in chronological order.

Just before the time is due, the PC will beep and a topmost window will
appear with your appointment text. Press OK and it will be automatically
removed from the appointment string.

Appointment strings are saved on leaving Task Master.

7. You can reprogram the three 'hot' buttons on the task master window.
Click on the program command line on the default screen and you will see
a browse window which allows any .EXE file to be selected.

The caption for the button can also be altered.

The settings for the three buttons are saved off on leaving Task Master.
