FEATURES

I. Indexes to Files

Each subdirectory contains an index file. It is the very first file in the
listing, and is in the form 00index.xxx (e.g. 00index.cb in the ChessBase
(/CB) subdirectory). This index shows all the files currently in the
directory, with a short decription. It may be read online or downloaded.
It is in plain ASCII text.

II. Subdirectory /Newstuff

This subdirectory contains copies of file announcements. When new files are
added to the site, they are announced in rec.games.chess.misc, and a copy
of the announcement is placed in this subdirectory, e.g. NEW1114.TXT would
show you the new file announcement from November 14.

An archive at the bottom of the directory, "old-ones.zip" contains old file
announcements.

III. Index to ALL Files

The very FIRST file in /Newstuff is a file called "allindex.txt". This is an
ASCII text file which consists of all the indexes from all the subdirectories
concatenated together.

Two ways to use it:

1. Download it and read it into a word-processor. This will allow you to
search for key words.

2. From the Web, allindex.txt can be opened directly, and Netscape's FIND
feature can then be used to search for words related to your interests.

Once you've found the file you're looking for (using either of the above
methods), it will be obvious what subdirectory it's in. Look up in the list
til you come to a directory header (e.g. "ChessBase Files Index"). That's
the subdirectory where your file will be found.

IV. Uploading

Uploads may be left in the directory group/chess/Uploads. If you leave
something, please either leave an accompanying text file describing what
you've left, and/or email doug.attig@rook.wa.com giving the file name and
describing it. The file will then be picked up and archived.

Enjoy...
