Limitations

LANtastic 6.1:

	The network operating system (NOS) and its associated

features are not intended for the Windows95 platform. LANtastic

Power Suite printing to HP JetDirect and Artisoft Central

Station devices are features that are included in the NOS

portion of Power Suite and are not intended to replace any

native Windows95 tools.

Organizer and cc:Mail:

	Both applications were developed for the DOS and Windows

3.x platforms and may have limitations that would be specified

by the Lotus Development Corporation or Microsoft. Specific

known limitations will be discussed.

BitShare:

   Can only be used as a modem client.

   The modem server must be on a DOS/Windows 3.x computer.

   Can only use the MCLIENT.DLL driver that is invoked in

	Port Status and Setup, the MCLIENT.EXE TSR will not function

	correctly. No Int14 and NASI features supported, by virtue of

	using the DLL driver.

   Can only be used with 16 bit applications, like the

BitWare programs.

   Must be used on the primary network protocol.

BitWare: No known issues at this time.

WSCache: Is not supported under Windows 95

PowerSynch: No known issues at this time.

Please note that both Lotus applications have been updated by

Lotus. LANtastic Power Suite customers can obtain upgrades to

the latest Lotus applications directly from Lotus at 800-343-

5414. This will entitle you to support and problem resolution

directly from Lotus.

Requirements

1. LANtastic Power Suite must be installed AFTER Windows 95

and LANtastic for Window 95

2. LANtastic for Windows 95 must be installed and functioning

before installing the LANtastic Power Suite utilities.

3. You must have a license for LANtastic for Windows 95 and

a separate LANtastic Power Suite license for each computer that

will have the utilities added.

Recommendation

cc:Mail and Organizer database servers should function under

Windows 95, however, to maintain platform consistency with

these applications, you may want to install the server

databases on a DOS/Windows 3.x LANtastic server.

Installing and Configuring the LANtastic Power Suite Utilities

1. Remove any drive connections on drives M: or O:, where M:

will be used for cc:Mail and O: will be used for Organizer.

   If this is not done, the next available drive will be

selected for each program during the installation. This will

affect Organizer group scheduling capabilities.

2. Install LANtastic Power Suite as per the Power Suite

installation guide.

   Choose to REPLACE EXISTING SETTINGS during the LANtastic

	portion of the installation.

   Choose the default responses for all other settings in the

	LANtastic portion of the installation.

   If you choose cc:Mail post office, the installation may

	appear to stop. To continue, double click on the IMPORT button

	that appears on the Windows 95 Task Bar.

3. Once the installation is complete, choose to RETURN TO

WINDOWS.  (Do NOT restart Windows.)

4. Edit the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file and make the following

modifications:

   Remove the line that says: CALL C:\LANTASTI\STARTNET.BAT

   Remove the line that says: C:\DOS\SHARE /F:5100 /L:500

5. If this machine is the Organizer database server, make the

following addition to  AUTOEXEC.BAT:

   SUBST O:  C:\LANTASTI\LOTUS

6. Edit the C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI file and make the following

modifications:

   On the LOAD= line, remove the C:\LANTASTI\WNET.INI

   If this is a cc:Mail Post Office and a BitShare client,

	also remove C:\LANTASTI\BITWARE\BITGATE.EXE

7. Make the following modification to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI file:

A) In the [boot] section, remove the line that says,

network.drv=C:\LANTASTI\LANTNET.DRV

B) In the [boot.description] section, remove the line that

says, network.drv=LANtastic for Windows Version 6.1

C) In the [386Enh] section, remove the following lines:

	network=C:\LANTASTI\LANTASTI.386

	NetAsynchFallback=TRUE

	NetAsynchTimeout=5.0

	PerVMfiles=0

	UniqueDosPSP=TRUE

	PSPIncrement=32

D) If the Cheyenne BitShare option was installed, remove the following

additional line from the [386Enh] section: C:\LANTASTI\BITSHARE\MCLIENT.EXE

8. If the cc:Mail Post Office is on a LANtastic Windows 95

machine, create a shared resource on that machine called,

CCMAIL, that points to the C:\LANTASTI\CCMAIL directory

   To create a shared LANtastic drive resource in LANtastic

for Windows 95, use the LANtastic Control Panel and follow

these steps:

   Select the Manage Server tab.

   Select the Share Drivers and Printers button.

   Select the This Server under Available Computers.

   Enter a User Name and Password for a user that has

	Supervisor Privileges on this computer. (EX. User

	Name: Supervisor and  Password:  Supervisor)

	Next, select Add.

  Set the Share selector to Drive. Enter the Resource Name,

	like CCMAIL. Enter a Description (optional) and the Local Path,

	like C:\LANTASTI\CCMAIL.

  Select the Create button and then close the LANtastic

	Control Panel.

9. If the Organizer database server is on a LANtastic for

Window 95 machine, create a share resource called machine

called, ORGANIZE, that points to the C:\LANTASTI\LOTUS

directory.

10. On each cc:Mail and Organizer workstations only, use the

LANtastic Control Panel to make the following permanent

connections:

    M: to the CCMAIL resource on the cc:Mail Post Office server

    O: to the ORGANIZE resource on the Organizer database server.

  To make a permanent LANtastic drive connection in LANtastic for Windows

	95, use the LANtastic Control Panel and follow these steps:

   Select the Use Network tab.

   Click the Remember Next Connection Made box to put a check mark in it.

   Select the mark next to the Organizer or cc:Mail server name in the Network

	Resources list.

   If the server name is not visible, select the Entire Network name and

	locate the server name.

   Select the mark next to the Available Drive line in the My Computer list.

   With the left mouse button, select the CCMAIL or ORGANIZE

	resource in the Network Resource list and hold the button while

	dragging the resource to the M: or O: drive in the My Computer

	list.

   Once the drives are connected, close the Assign Drives box and LANtastic

	Control Panel.

11. If this machine will be running the BitShare Client software, the

Artisoft NetBIOS protocol must be set to the Primary Protocol.

   On the Windows95 desktop, select MY COMPUTER, select CONTROL PANEL, and

       then select NETWORK.

   Once the Network panel is open, select the Artisoft LANtastic NetBIOS and

	then choose Properties.

   Select the Advanced tab and make sure that there is a check in the Set

	this protocol to be the default protocol.

Note: If LANtastic is the only network enabled, then this check

box will be grayed out with a check in it.

Other Notes

The first time you run cc:Mail, Windows 95 will generate a warning message.

This is because Microsoft recognized a limitation in cc:Mail. cc:Mail will

have difficulty if the PATH statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT is greater than 128

characters.

If this warning message appears, select the check box to disable the warning

message. If there are difficulties that relate to opening files or creating

directories, check the length of the path statement.
