Artisoft LANtastic For TCP/IP is designed to enable PCs on a LANtastic 
network to access remote host and networks which are using TCP/IP. 
LANtastic for TCP/IP comes complete with the most popular TCP/IP services, 
including login, file transfer, print services, and terminal emulation, 
as well as UNIX remote commands. Artisoft is not responsible for the 
compatibility of any application(s) or equipment running with Artisoft 
equipment or LANtastic networks.

The following information is based on in-house testing of LANtastic for 
TCP/IP, and is meant as a quick installation guide.  For more detailed 
instructions and information, please refer to the LANtastic For TCP/IP 
installation manual. If you are not a registered LANtastic for TCP/IP owner, 
your questions should be directed to our Technical Sales Department at

Note :  The following information is required prior to installing LANtastic 
	for TCP/IP :
* IP address of the remote TCP/IP host that LANtastic for TCP/IP nodes will 
  be accessing
* REDIR names of all LANtastic nodes that will access the remote TCP/IP host
	(NET SHOW can be used to obtain this information)
	Note :  REDIR names should not exceed 12 characters
* IP Address of gateway/router (optional)
* SubNet bits used on the remote TCP/IP host

STEP 1  Make sure LANtastic NOS v4.10 or higher is installed and running. 

STEP 2  Start Installation
* Insert the LANtastic for TCP/IP diskette #1 into floppy drive A:
* Type A:  <enter>
* Type INSTALLT  <enter>
* When finished reading the Introduction screen, press  <enter>

STEP 3  Setup Installation Template
* Lines 1 and 3 are self explanatory
* Line 2 asks "Install LANtastic drivers only?" select NO, then press <enter>
	(this will copy ALL LANtastic for TCP/IP files to the subdirectory 
	 on line 3
* Choose the proper network adapter or driver for line 4 
	(if using NDIS, this choice is irrelevant)
* Press <F10> key to start installation
* When "Install Complete" message appears, press <enter>

STEP 4  Setup Default Account Template
	Any parameter(s) that are common to all LANtastic for TCP/IP nodes 
	should be entered into the template displayed here.
* Enter the SubNet Bits - Use the same SubNet Bits as the remote TCP/IP host
	(If you do not know the subnet bits or plan to run on a local network 
	 only, use the default 0.)
* Enter the Gateway Address - Use the IP address of the gateway/router if 
			      applicable.
* Move cursor to Account Management and press   <enter>

STEP 5  Setup Time Offset
* Move cursor to Site Parameters and press   <enter>
* Enter the proper Time Zone and offset from Universal Time
	(Universal Time replaced Greenwich Mean Time)
* Press <ECS> once to exit back to the Account Management menu

STEP 6  Set directory path for other LANtastic for TCP/IP nodes
* Move cursor to Program Parameters and press   <enter>
* Move cursor to Directory Path and press   <enter>
* Enter the drive letter that other LANtastic for TCP/IP nodes will have 
  redirected for access to this LANtastic for TCP/IP Server 
  (I.E. T:), and press   <enter>
* Press <ESC> once to return to the Account Management menu

Step 7          Setup Expert Parameters for optimum performance
* Move cursor to Expert Parameters and press   <enter>
* Press <enter> to toggle parameters to CUSTOM
* Change Packet Buffers to 15 and press   <enter>
* Change TCP Window Multiple to 4 and press   <enter>
* Press <ESC> to return to Account Management menu
* Press <ESC> to return to Default Account Information menu

STEP 8  Entering IP address information
* Press <ESC> once from Default Account Information, this will prompt you 
  for the Starting IP Address
* Enter the Starting IP Address - Choose an address which starts with the 
  same 3 octets as the IP address of the remote TCP/IP host.  
  I.E., if the host IP address is 192.33.24.6, the starting IP address for 
  LANtastic could be 192.33.24.10
   Note :  Do not use addresses beginning with 127.x.x.x, or 111.x.x.x, 
   or 0.x.x.x
* Enter the Ending IP Address - I.E., if the starting address is 
  192.33.24.10 and there are 7 LANtastic for TCP/IP nodes, the ending 
  address would be 192.33.24.16  This will allow an address for each node.
   Note :  Do not use addresses which are already in use by other devices 
   on the network.
* Press <enter>, this will display the addresses which were just created

STEP 9  Setup this node's information
* Press <ESC> once to return to Account Management menu
* Move cursor to the IP address for THIS node and press   <enter>
* Move cursor to Machine Name, enter the REDIR name of this node,  <enter>
* Move cursor to Account Management and press   <enter>

STEP 10 Set the local path to the LANtastic for TCP/IP files
* Move cursor to Program Parameters and press   <enter>
* Change the directory path to the location of the LANtastic for TCP/IP 
  files.  I.E. C:\LANTCP and press   <enter>


At this point, the LANtastic for TCP/IP Management Server Installation is 
complete.  Press <ESC> until the program stops and the computer is back 
to a DOS prompt.  Remove the LANtastic for TCP/IP diskette and reboot the 
computer.  When the computer reboots, run STARTNET.BAT, then run 
TCPSTART.BAT.  You should now be ready to test the LANtastic for TCP/IP by 
PINGing the IP address of the remote host.
