AB A patient with AIDS was hospitalized with a left-sided face swelling and
protrusion of the bulbus. After cranial computed tomography and
fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the fossa temporalis we diagnosed a
mycetoma; localisation and histology made an aspergilloma most probable.
Antimycotic therapy led to complete remission of the symptoms. Post
mortem we only could culture Candida albicans out of the abscess cavity.
