AB We describe a patient with acute HIV exanthem with papulovesicular
lesions and epidermal necrosis. We also review the literature regarding
the histopathologic findings of acute HIV exanthem, which appears to be
most commonly characterized by a perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate
without epidermal change, but which may be associated with spongiosis,
       vacuolar alteration, or epidermal necrosis.
