 AB    Women are at high risk for HIV infection in Zambia. There are several
       interrelated factors to account for this including the economic,
       cultural and educational status of women. This paper explores these
       factors and suggests that these factors need to be thoroughly understood
       before preventive strategies are designed and implemented.
