Results of the SSB Field Day 1995

The SSB Field Day is held each year on over the first weekend in
September and seven Echo India stations took part in 1995, three
in the open section and four in the restricted section.

The open section was won by the EastCork Group EI7M, Cork Radio
Club EI5CRC were runners-up and South Dublin Radio Club EI2SDR
were in third position.

In the restricted section, Blackrock Radio Scouts, EI1DD led the
field, followed by Wicklow Wireless Society EI2WW in second place.
Third place went to the Irish Amateur Radio Association for Blind
& Disabled EI2HAM with the Dundalk entry EI2NFD taking the fourth
spot.

This was the best supported SSB Field Day for some time and
congratulations to the winners in both sections and indeed to all
stations who took part.

Remember CW field day will be held over the June bank holiday
weekend and now is the time to be making plans.

The lunch was a sell out with many of the old timers in the area
getting together again for the first time in many years.

The attendance was addressed by IRTS President Jim Ryan who paid
tribute to the major part played by members of Limerick Radio Club
in the hobby over the years.

Four IRTS Presidents came from Limerick Radio Club, Sean Merry
EI3B, Brian Fogarty EI6X, Tom O'Connor EI9U and Eoin OKelly
EI6BX.

Other speakers included present Club Chairman Dermot Gleeson
EI2GT, Mrs. Merry, wife of the late EI3B, Dermot Merry son of the
late EI3B, Eoin O'Kelly EI6BX and John Dolan EI5AD.

During the lunch, the new Limerick 2 metre repeater was officially
switched on by Eamon Cassidy EI5AJ.

The rally, held in very nice surroundings, was very well attended
by both traders and punters and proved to be a very sociable
