---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 1.2.9 contains several improvements against 1.2.7 and the (never
released) test version 1.2.8. It has grown more reliable and should work
faster. It also supports more options and devices now.

A lot of people contributed bug reports and fixes and tried earlier
versions. Thank you to all of you who have helped KBackup become what
it is now!

Please take the time to test both, Backup and Restore before relying on it.
I believe KBackup is stable and reliable, but ALWAYS test a backup system
before trusting it!

By the way, if you use KBackup, *please* don't forget to send me a postcard.
I am not taking any money for this and -believe me- it is an awful lot of
work to write such a package, so just give me some motivation to go on. Ok?

If you want to contribute to the development of KBackup, please contact me,
I can need help, especially to test it on hardware that I don't have access to.
I am also willing to support anyone who is interested in porting KBackup to
other UNIX systems.
Though, my time to spend on KBackup got awfully limited, so I will probably
not be able to include any new features. If you do so, please contact me, so
we can incorporate it into the main release.

INSTALLATION:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

...is pretty simple: just type "./kbinstall" in this directory.
The install program will install all files in the proper places. After
Installation you can remove this directory tree.

To start it, type "kbackup".
To get it working, you should look at the configuration menu, especially
at the "Configuration/Configure KBackup/Select device/type for backup"
section to configure your backup device/file.

You need dialog and preferably afio to use KBackup. If you do not have
them, look into the files in the tools/ directory.

PROBLEMS, BUGS?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before submitting a bug report, PLEASE read the documentation
coming with KBackup. Most problems reported are covered there.

Also, please note that I can only answer to KBackup specific
problems. If you do not know how to get your drive working (
especially if you are crazy enought to trust ftape), do not
ask me about that.

If you have a problem with KBackup itself, want to suggest an
improvement, or (best of all) submit a bugfix, mail me!
