Hello my dear friends...

The following will be instructions on accessing CalvaryNet
through DOS and Windows Applications.

FOR WINDOWS:
============

NOTE: You can use a DOS Communications program from within Windows.
I personally use the COMMO Program, but Telix, Procomm Plus,
Panther and other communication programs work fine in a DOS
Window from within WINDOWS. Just make sure that you LOCK
the application memory in the PIF or PROPERTIES settings
for that DOS program. I use a DOS window myself for all
Windows Communications. I can INTERNET FILE ATTACH you
a FREE communications and off-line mail program IF you
have an internet address. Sorry my friends, I can't
afford to send such programs via U.S. Post Office.

WINDOWS 3.0 or 3.1
------------------

1. Use the Windows Terminal Program provided with Windows.
NOTE: The Terminal program will "work", but not as well
as other communications software that support Windows.

2. Once you are in the TERMINAL program, choose FILES and
then SAVE AS. Save the file as CALVARY.TRM and then
choose save. CALVARY.TRM will now appear at the top
of your Terminal Program Message Bar.

3. Choose SETTINGS.
   Choose TERMINAL EMULATION
          - Mark the DEC VT-100 (ANSI) option and press OK.

4. Choose SETTINGS
   Choose Terminal Preferences
          - Under "Terminal Modes", Unmark LINE WRAP
            Under "Terminal Font", Choose "Terminal"
                - You can play with the FONT later.
          - Under "Translations", MARK THE BOX "IBM to ANSI"

          - Under "Use Function, Arrow, and Ctrl Keys",
               - UNCHECK THIS BOX

5. Choose "OK" and you are now back at the Terminal Screen.
6. Let's SAVE our work so we don' have to do THAT again (SMILE).
7. Choose FILES, and then choose SAVE. You are back at the terminal
   screen.

8. Choose SETTINGS:
   Choose Communications
          - Under "Baud Rate", choose the fast baud rate supported
by your modem. Check you modem's manual if you are
            unsure.

          - Make sure the following are correct:
           . Data Bits are 8
           . Stop Bits are 1
           . Parity is None
           . Flow Control is "Hardware"
. Connector is "Whatever your Com Port is". This is
              usually ok.

9. Choose OK. You are now at the Terminal Window again.

10. Choose FILES and then SAVE. You are now back at the Terminal

11. LOOK AT THE END OF THIS FILE FOR A CALVARY NETWORK BBS PHONE
NUMBER in your area. If you don't mind calling Long Distance,
you will be using the 619-630-7437 Phone Number.

12. Choose SETTINGS.
    Choose PHONE NUMBER
      - Enter in the Calvary Chapel BBS System Phone number,
        including the area code.
      - Change the "TimeOut if not Connected" to 60 Seconds rather
        than the 30 defaulted.
      - Check the box labled REDIAL AFTER TIMING OUT.

13. CHOOSE OK. You are back at the Terminal Window.

14. Choose FILES and then SAVE.

15. Now let's try DIALing. CHOOSE PHONE, THEN DIAL. A box will
appear and dial into the Calvary Chapel BBS System. You will
hear a series of tones.. that is ok. Now...

16. Answer the qustions on your screen. Have fun! YAHOO!

Once Connected and registered (FREE), look over the menu's on how
to access the CALVARYNET Conferences. On The Shepherd's Flock
Family BBS (619-630-7437), all you have to do is to type J for
JOIN at the Main Menu Command, and wa-la, choose a CalvaryNet
conference to communicate on.

==========================
     WINDOWS 95
==========================
1. You can use either a DOS Communications program (within a DOS
Window) or a Windows Communications program. Here we will
cover using HYPERLINK Communications Software that comes with
   Windows95

2. Choose START (off the Start Menu)
   Choose PROGRAMS
   Choose ACCESSORIES
          - Choose HyperTerminal or HyperLink.. which ever applies.
Choose Hypertrm.exe (if applicaple). IT will be the ICON with
the computer and phone. Double click on that ICON.

Hyperterminal will then load, and you will be at the
   "NEW CONNECTION" window.

3. Type in the "NAME" CalvaryNet
    - Optional: Highlight an ICON that you would like to use
for this entry. I choose the MAILBOX and Yellow Phone
      ICON.

4. Click on the OKAY button.

5. You are now at the "PHONE NUMBER" box.
LOOK at the BBS Numbers Provided at the end of this file and
CHOOSE a CalvaryNet BBS number in your area. If you don't
see your area listed, use the 619-630-7437 Number.

Enter that number (area code included) into the "Area code" and
   "Phone Number" Fields now.

Under "Connect Using"... ensure that Windows95 has displayed
the actual modem you are using for your system. This is usually
automatic, and does not need editing.

   Click on the OK button.

6. You are now at the "CONNECT" Box
Your City should be in that box automaically. I think Windows95
gets that information from the Windows Program.

CLICK on the DIALING PROPERTIES box next to "Your Location".

If you are calling Long distance for that number, make sure
that the "Dial As Long Distance Call" box has a check in it.

They Click on "OK". You are back at the Connect Box.

Choose DIAL.. and IMMEDIATELY CHOOSE CANCLE so it does
    NOT Actually place the call.

You are at the HYPERTERMINAL screen... and "CalvaryNet"
appears in the upper Right corner of the Message Bar.

7. Choose FILE, then choose SAVE. There.. now your work
   is saved.

8. Choose CALL and then CONNECT whenever you want to
Call the CalvaryNet BBS, or.. double click on the
CalvaryNet ICON within the HyperLink Program area.

NOTE: HYPERLINK will display the graphics oddly on
some BBS SYSTEMS.. including mine. I recommend
usings another Communications program from within
Windows. Once you have been able to connect with
HyperLink, you can they use Hyperlink to download
the CC-MAIL.ZIP and PKZ204g.exe programs from
your CalvaryNet BBS system. That will give you
a FREE Communications program as well as a FREE
      Off-Line Mail Reading program.

There ya go!

=========================================
                FOR DOS
=========================================

1. Access the communications program that came with the modem
you purchased, or.. that was available to you by another
   means.

2. OPTION #2: if you have an INTERNET ADDRESS, leave me an
EMAIL message and I will send you a FREE DOS Communications
program as well as an OFF-LINE MAIL READER.

3. After you have accessed the Communications program, ensure
   that it is configured properly.

Check your manual for that particular communictions program
   ensuring that:
   a. it is accessing the proper communications port
      - USUALLY THIS IS ALREADY SET UP FOR YOU. This is an
easy process. You will generally be choosing COM 1
or COM 2. If COM 1 does not work, simply try COM 2.

   b. make sure it is configured for N,8,1 (see your manual)

   c. make sure it is set to operate at the speed of your
      modem. Usually, 9600, 14400, 57600 or 28.8 baud.
Check your manual to see what the highest baud rate
      your modem supports.

4. SEE THE END OF THIS TEXT FILE FOR A CALVARY CHAPEL BBS SYSTEM IN
YOUR AREA. Write that number down. If you do not see a number
listed in your City, use the 619-630-7437 number. We can chat
later about using an OFF-LINE mail reader to quickly and
inexpensively function on CalvaryNet for Long Distance Callers.

5. Access your modem's dialing feature. Use the EDIT feature
or "Add" feature and add the phone number of the CalvaryNet
number in your area. If it allows you to select a baud
speed, choose the fastest speed that your modem supports.

6. Choose "DIAL", and your modem will now begin to "CALL" one
of the Calvary Chapel BBS Systems. After your modem has
connected, answer the questions that come up on the screen,
{a password you want to use, etc}.

7. After you are freely registered on that Calvary Chapel
BBS system, read the menu's and access the CONFERENCE
AREAS (or "Forums"). Look for CALVARYNET.

8. You are now connected on a Calvary Chapel BBS SYSTEM. There is
always an option to leave a message for the SYSOP (System
Operator) if you have any problems navigating on that system.
