          Bead Rings

This is a great family project - something the kids can learn for a
summer craft.

Materials needed for each ring are an assortment of tiny seed beads
and 10 inches of fine wire. If you want a center "gem", select
one larger bead or use one from discarded bead jewelry.

Loops the wire so the two end or equal.
Bend it at the middle.
Hold one end in your left hand and other in your right while stringing.

Start by stringing 3 beads on the right hand wire. Slide them down to
the loop. String 3 more beads on the same wire. Holding them at the end
of the right hand wire, pass the left hand wire the the same beads. Pull the
two wires until the second row of 3 beads is snug against the first row.

String the thrid row on the right hand wire, push the left hand wire through
them and slide to fit snugly against the second row.

Continue until you have made 7 rows. Next make 3 rows of 4 beads each. When
weaving is nearly half as long as the distance around your finger, string
on the large bead, threading it on the end of one wire. Then pushing the
wire through the opposite side.

The last half of the ring is made just like the 1st half, but decrease the
number of beads exactly as you increased them approaching the center.

Complete the ring by pushing one end of the wire through the fitst row of
beads and twisting the ends to make a snug fit.
